I noticed a real odd "hinge" system yesterday on a 13 Z3....where the back seat center cushion folds down to expose a stepping surface from the center pass-through over the engine cover. It had some channels and plastic guides and some Velcro that secured the pad in place when not folded down. Not sure if that is what you are talking about but I would like to see a better system there for sure...just my !

I believe The hinge we are talking about is in the bow of the boat and hinges the cushion to get to the windscreen. It sticks up just a little bit higher than cushion and when your walking in the front of the boat your thinking nothing but cushion until you step on that sob right on the arch of your foot and the words start flying.
I guess I never looked at the hinge on my bow center cushion over the cooler.
^^^As to my first question for the above...Why are you walking on your cushions? Not a good idea. Had a service tech do it to mine and then a 12 week wait for a cover while I stared at the 4 inch rip in my seat. The vinyl rips way easier than you think, especially at the seams, I would strongly suggest you don't allow people to walk/ step on your seats and cushions.

I don't know how you can not step on cushions in your boat . How do you put up and down Bimini top or put moring cover on while on the water?
Kneel or sit. I don't step on them or let others in my boat. I have seen to many rip. If I need height like the bimini or racks I lift the seat and stand on the fiberglass base. Everyone is their own captain and can treat their boat however they like, but I avoid it at all costs as they do rip easier than you might think they should.
