I am looking at both boats and wondered if I could have some opinions of why Tige over Nautique? They both would have similar options and would be using it for surfing, wakeboarding, and some minor skiing. Thanks for the input.

Will the 230 have NSS? If so, I would almost have to go with the 230, but I havent surfed one with the NSS, nor have a surfed the Z3 with the VX. There is nothing significant about either boat I really dislike, although I prefer a walk-thru bow as opposed to stepping up on seats. I cannot comment on those particular boats, but a large part of why we ended up with a Tige over other brands is their reputation for taking care of their clients. I do appreciate that they are still a family owned company, especially for their size and I think that is part of why they seem to care about the customer as much as they do. The other BIG reason we purchased a Tige is DEALER DEALER DEALER. To me the dealer interaction and response to my needs as a consumer is extreamly important as well. Just my $.02"I think I am pretty smart for an idiot"

Here is a video of the Z3 we did, PRO ballast system with Convex VX and the rear sacs replaced with plug and play larger custom sacs, no other ballast but people.
You can see, and several people I know with Nautiques have shared that the wake is steep and doesn't really mellow out much at all. If you like that, and many do, then you will like that wake. The Z3 is more adjustable and can be steep but also mellow. The Z3 makes a great wake on both sides, as seen in the video, I have heard mixed reports on the 230, you would have to demo or ask someone you trust for more info on that.
I really can't answer as far as wake boardinghttp://wake9.com/

WE were bored last week in Lake of the Ozarks so stopped and looked at Nautiques. So after that my number one reason is PRICE!! Z3 will do what the 230 does for about 20K less!! If that doesn't matter than the 230 with NSS is pretty cool!
Heck they quoted me mid 70's on a 13 210(non team) with no link dash and no NSS. Said that would be close to 20K more!!

I would have the 230. Surf gate is amazing, the 230 is known for its stellar wakeboard wake. The new design is fresh and timeless, the hull was updated and there's a lot of little things that make the difference. I have nothing against the z3 and think its a great boat, but All things being close to equal, 230.

Same size and engine the Tige will out perform on to plane, better turning in both direction, better fuel economy, and better ride, as to durabilty and resale there equal, as to wake thats all subject to individals opinion of what they like, as to my opinion its based on having owned both and as a mechanic who has worked on and had to test on a regular basis Malibus, MC , Nautiques, Tiges, Etc.

The z3 will make a better surf wake and honestly a bigger wake board wake with adjustable wake shape. We run the 230 at nationals and the wake board wake has nothing on the z3. It looks real nice but does not have the kick and send you out in the flats rather than up.2016 Tige Z3, 2014 Tige Z3

I've been behind both the Z3 and the 230. The 230 wave was amazing, even at stock ballast. With NSS it can change from steep to mellow without losing length. We tried many configurations to get the same wave out of the Z3, it required much more weight. Price... well... Test drive them both. Weight them both, and surf them both. I don't know about the wakeboard wake.

Yes the Nautique has the NSS and would consider the VX on the Z3. I prefer the walk-thru bow too, but I do like how the Z3 bow seems larger and is a little deeper. Thanks for your input.Last edited by Av8tor; 08-12-2013, 04:03 PM.

I can't agree with you more on the dealer interaction and response to needs as a consumer. If they were both equal, would you still have gone with a Tige?Last edited by Av8tor; 08-12-2013, 04:05 PM.

I agree that the 230 wake seems to be considerably steeper, which even without ballast it's a challenge to mellow it. Do you think that the VX is a must for the Z3 or would it be fine without it, for non-pro surfing and wakeboarding?Last edited by Av8tor; 08-12-2013, 04:06 PM.
