recall for prop shaft seal collar

My dealer contacted me today and said there was a recall on my 2013 Z3 for the addition of a prop shaft seal collar. Anyone else have any more information on the recall?? I never heard back from my dealer today.

Anyone know what this actually looks like? Is this an external look or external collar install?

I have no idea but I wonder if my z1 needs something similar. I'm starting to take on some water and it seems to come from that general area

Talked to the dealer I got my 12 rz2 from as I was taking on some water. He said they have had to redo about 5 boats and mine has to get done.

Is it just me or is Tige, Having a lot of quality issues this year?

Not sure about a recall, but I needed to adjust my r20 shaft seal after 20hrs as I was also taking in water.

As for other quality issues, I am generally happy with the new boat but there have been a few problems that concern me in regards to my initial perspective of the build quality and attention to detail.

Talked with my dealer today. It is just another spring-assisted collar that goes inside the boat around the drive shaft. He said that Tige only pays them 30 mins to do it so am hoping that it is not that hard and can take care of it myself. I should have the part next week towards the end of the week. This seems to be happening with quite a few boats, especially if you hit something with your prop or shaft then it really accelerates the leaking.

Don't all the new boats have a dripless packing? Is there an adjustment on the dripless packings or are they failing and allowing water in and this is to fix that?

Does anyone know what boats this covers? Is it all models?

It's good to know that is why I'm taking on water. It's not enough to concern me into driving 2 1/2 hours to get it fixed. I will just have it serviced during winterization.

Im not trying to stir any pot , but I think its a plus when a manufacturer is pro active and adress issues that crop up and come up with a fix , I could tell you about other companys that I have dealt with and these are higher end priced boats that only took care of issues on a boat by boat basis , even knowing there was an inherent problem.

I agree. I owned another brand before this and there were a number of things that popped up that were common issues among the brand that were not covered, acknowledged, or fixed under warranty by the manufacturer or dealer.

                          Tige Prop Shaft Repair

I believe these are some of the instructions for the repair. Not sure if all the pictures are here. You will notice the pictures are not taken from a boat hull perspective. Looks like a make shift table top demonstration. Maybe you can figure out what is being done here.Prop1.jpgProp2.jpgProp3.jpg

Dom, do newer Tiges come with a water lubricated shaft seal like the part that WABoating added to his boat? Should this be something everyone does with a PCM engine and dripless packing seal?
