You can get a cheap set of mudflats from any auto parts store for $15 or so that can be zip tied in place. Makes a huge difference in the risk of throwing a rock.
Our boat is pretty much only on a dirt road when it's at the lake. We wash it down whenever we can & then swing by the carwash when we hit the highway with it. No issues at all. If it's gravel, go slow. SLOW SLOW.
