Convex VX with correct brackets...Feedback Please

Hi all! As I am sure many of you have heard, the Convex VX brackets were incorrect on the 2013 models, at least the Z3 and Z1. I have been patiently awaiting a phone call from our dealer to let me know that our brackets are in and they are ready to work on it.

Has anyone received the new brackets and had the VX modification performed on their boat. If so, please share your thoughts on the wave with the new brackets and VX mod.

Is there a noticeable difference vs. the old bracket set up? Does the correct set up live up to the hype? Have you see results a good as what Ragboy has reported on other threads?

I am hoping the answer to the above is YES, YES and YES! Please provide feedback to pacify all of us that are waiting for our brackets to arrive to the dealers.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

I can tell you we have surfed before and after back to back on Z3, Z1, and RZR, huge difference IMHO.

If you want to see the difference in video, look at our Z1 review in march/april or so. That was a VX that was wrong, and we didn't realize at the time, we thought it was shallow water causing the issue.

Compare that to our latest video, same weight setup, same people.

I have recieved my brackets. Going to put the VX back on today. I did not mod the vx at all. Just put the brackets on and put it on the boat. Some are changing the angle that butts up with the boat but it is not needed according to my dealer. They have done a few now and they all fit with out doing anything to the vx.

I will update today after work once I get it on and loaded up for surfing. Then I will likely be contacting a couple of forum members about ballast bags so I dont have to chuck so many bags all the time on top of the pro ballast.

My VX fit with out modification for use. I am going to cut it a bit in the fall as the sb side just touches the transom. I have a z1 at my place currently with the new brackets and it fits fine with no modification.

The wake is definitely longer with the VX. It is also as tall with out the VX. The problem I am having is that the wake is very soft. I have tried a few different combos with no success. Water is 20' deep. Pro ballast full and sb side 50%. Have about 600# under seat and two 400# sacs on surf side seats or floor. Have also tried moving weight up front. Wake is beautiful looking but very soft and hard to air it out. Any pointers would be great.

I had my brackets replaced and I can tell you without question it makes a huge difference. Wave has huge push and is much harder, way longer as well.

Getting my wake dialed in. Had a nice solid lip last night that I was able to get more air off of than I ever have before.

              Lake at 18-24' deep
              Taps 6
              Speed 10.8-11
              Regular Side Ballast:
Front full, Rear Full, 1100lb sac (not full due to space ~500 lbs) pulled to butt up against rear vdrive sac, 400lb sac infront of it.
              Driver side Ballast:
Front full, Rear 75% (pump timer is 7 and tsunami pumps)

Added a 400lb sac on top of the seat to what I had listed above and the wake is killer. Super long, big and hard. No excuses any more. What a blast.

That sounds about right, which is why we made our new sacks a bit bigger than the previous. Adds about 3-400 lbs to the surf side. That seemed to us to be the difference in the weight needed with the VX compared to old.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. We have been running our Z1 with the new bracets for a bit now.
                    We typically running:
                    Front full
                    Surf Side full
                    11 MPH
                    Taps @ 3-4

So far this has been good for us newbies. As everyone has stated, things seem to be much better with the VX with the new brackets compared to without the VX.

Thanks for the replies. We are very glad we opted for the VX. It's worth the wait!

Did the RZR/R20 also need new brackets?

Ok, how do we tell the difference on the RZ2's? I know Ragboy posted some measurements you could use to check it on the Z3, but I don't know anything equivalent for the RZ2.

I ordered mine in November 2013 because I thought all the issues with the incorrect brackets had been resolved by then. Is there any chance they were still selling the wrong ones then?
