    Noise when throttle is engaged?

I hit a rock last weekend and had to replace the prop. Now there is a high pitch whining sound when there is low rpm, what can cause this?

When in gear, right? Bent shaft either rubbing the strut bushing or shaft seal.

Out of alignment typically means the strut or shaft or both is bent. Neither is fixable, they get replaced if bent.

I doubt its an alignment issue when it started after you hit something hard enough to destroy a prop. As Chpthril said you more than likely have something that is bent and will need replaced. It needs replaced quickly or it may lead to other damage.

I wouldn't. Say its the shaft..then it wipes out the strut and strut bearings. Can cause the coupler to shear which then drops the spinning shaft and prop into the rudder. Depending on the speed that happens at can be dangerous. If nothing else you end up stuck in the middle of the lake.

It might be OK, but not worth the risk, IMO. I'd have the dealer check it out and see what they think. Should be able to make an insurance claim.

Without know exactly what the damage its pretty hard to even give you a ball park figure. You really should have the dealer take a look at it, IMO. You are easily going to be over a grand as you have already spent probably $400+ on a prop. If you need a shaft and strut plus labor you could go over 2 real easily. Did it damage the rudder? Sounds like you hit something pretty hard. Sounds like it could have went down the shaft to the strut to the prop. Rudder is next in line. You really need to take a good look at the bottom of the boat. Do you know what you hit?

Sorry to hear, but that sounds about typical, even with what seemed like a mild strike.
