I did the same thing for several years. Now I'm back on the fire stick much more. You should have a go, Mike. It'll be huge fun for you.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

I have yet to get a ride this year but hope to before the season is over. This past weekend I got my oldest up on the same beginner's skis I used as a kid and my parents before that. He made it 2 laps then unfortuately fell forward and cut his knee on the bracket holding the rope link between the skis. 6 staples later... he says he wants to go back out and give it another go. I've got some changes on the ski's to make sure this same thing doesn't happen again - i never was hurt on them so never even crossed my mind it could do it to him. He is only 6 years old but was a trooper being his first trip to the ER for an injury. It'll be a good battle scar story for the future. The wife is pretty scared of the water but is coming around. The injury doesnt help things much.

I forgot to say why I slalomed ; our first boat came w/skis from late 80's early 90s. Skinny and I could never get up w/2 feet in. I'd have to drag back foot and use it as rudder--etc

@beginning of summer my son took boat out to surf and didn't realize skis were under the seat. The full Ballast bag bent/broke the old ski. I wasn't even mad because I never would get new modern shaped skis because I had the crappy ones. Now I needed new skis and got Connelly's Tried slalom w/both feet in, leaned back and got up the first time. Since I'm not a skier I went 26mph. Next time ill try faster.

The new ski technology is so much better.

I'm still jazzed about it. Surfing mellow. Wakeboarding curv-y. Slaloming speediest but most tiring

Slalom every chance I get, but the water needs to be relatively flat. Surf is the most common activity. Wakeboard last. The funny thing is that we have people who don't ski because they are afraid of getting hurt, yet will not hesitate to go do a faceplant wakeboarding.

A close friend just downlake from us a few houses dropped by a couple of nights ago to inform us that he had just bought a brand new waterski. So there are still a few faithful "skinny board" riders out there!
