Not quite yet?????

Not quite a Tige owner yet, but i am going to look at a 1999 22 foot Tige Sunday. I was looking for some input on making the purchase. Have yet to see boat but it is owned by my brother in laws best friend, and i guess is showroom quality. Not sure of hours use yet and have only owned a runabout four years ago so not an expert on wakeboats. Dont think I will be able to have a mechanic go through it either do to time constraints. He is firm at $18000 and looking at used here in Az it seems to be priced right especially do to the condition from what I gather from my brother in law. He says its always been garaged and very well taken care of. I am just looking for insight on what else I should look for before I pull the trigger and hopefully become a member of this forum with a Tige in his garage!!!!

do you know if its a V drive or a Direct drive? think price might not be bad for a V drive.. but maybe a bit high for a direct. but not completely outrageous.
water test if possible. check gauges, taps plate, general appearance of gel inside and out.. and under. trailer in good shape.. wheels, bearings, bunks?

Do an NADA on it and see what it says for the value of the boat. That is a good starting point. I would believe that is a good price. Our 2000 2300V NADA out at just under $30,000. We paid a lot less for it though. Do they have the ability to start it out of the water so you can hear the motor run (hear any issues, etc)?

Like eveyones saying without more info/pics its hard to say if 18 is good or bad. And hrs make a big diff on price as well

If it has a tower like this one, inspect the welds, these towers are notorious for having structural issues.


Don't be afraid of higher hours, as long as the boat was maintained properly. Some of the really low hour boats aren't used and are neglected.

I'd request a water test drive before buying (you pay for gas and/or launch fees). You will learn a lot about the boat and how its treated with the owner around.
