So what Oil are you using? Are you running Royal Purple? Would you recommend the Diesel Shell Rotella-T 15w-40 with the Royal Purple 30-8A filter? I have a 2001 2100V 5.7 MPI..

Looks good. I use a Baldwin Filter. I wonder if RP makes those or has someone make them for them?

I installed Royal Purple in all my vehicles, and then this spring I did my 24V! The filter I crossed with the mfg number, and it was right on! Boat seems to run fine, and even idles smoother. It's an expense, but I believe in quality oil, and filters!

Im not picking on RP filters but would have to see oil flow test to other quality brands , higher microns of filtration also effects oil pressure and volume its a fine line, also dont agree with the statement that you can extend your oil change interval to justify cost, never go past factory reccomendation.

That's a long video and it looks like it's all about the oil, not the filter.

Without a good oil filter, your engine would not last very long at all
Most every filter on the market must be a good filter then.

Price is often an indication of quality
Hmmm, so its true, Mastercraft really must be the best boat ever built, cause it cost the most.

Im sure RP makes a good filter, I just to not believe the marketing hype that has you believe all the others are that crappy.

I ordered one for my 2012, and crossed the factory number for Royal's. Amazon has the best pricing on RP's products that I've been able to find, plus usually it's free shipping for Prime members.
chpthril... Not just indicative of price, but the manufacturing process and materials used. Not saying they are good just because the cost more, but being a diesel mechanic for years has led me to believe the oil is critical! You like Wet Sounds, they cost more.. Why spend $1500 on tower speakers if the ones that cost $299 sound the same? Sure, they both produce music, but Wet Sounds has the quality and reputation that you want. Unless you're a poser and just buy it because its cool!! Lol! If you really want clean oil, and not have to change it for thousands of miles, look as the FS2500. My experience with it is incredible, bypass filtration will make you a believer in what a quality filter can do!!

                            Bigtige,

If you listen to the video, you will see that my quotes were excerpts from the video. My comments were more tongue-n-check, then anything. Just pocking a little fun at what is obviously a scripted paid infomercial for/by RP.

I did not specialize in diesel, but was an automotive technician for 18+ years before retiring and getting into boats. I have never seen an engine failure that I could attribute to a failed or poor quality filter. I have though, seen plenty of engine failures due to stretching the maintenance intervuls or lack of maintenance. I have used many different brands of filters on my cars over the years. My daily driver is a 10 year SUV with over 200K and it has been a tow vehicle since day one. Never used a RP filter, just the light weight sub par cheap filters. I have an occasional driver with over 200K miles. Both my sons vehicles have well over 100K. My parents 2002 Buick has 180K, and was just retired to an occasional driver last month when dad bought a new GMC.

Bottom line, in all my years of experience, I have found that proper maintenance is far more important then the cost of the filter you used.

X2 i've had multiple vehicles with well over 100,000 miles and no trouble.I too believe maintenance is more important than RP or Amsoil claims.Another Snap-on dealer used Amsoil in his van and changed it every 7500 miles his motor failed at 120000 miles.I sold my old van with 168k miles and no issues with oil changes every 2000 miles. We let our trucks idle a lot.My current truck has 22000 hours on it and only 96k miles.
I do all my own stunt work. hey ya'll watch dis.
