Whos Depth gauges work correctly all the time?

In the water. I am wondering if the depth sounder portion of the triducer isn't working?

Is it possible to add a second transducer and tie it into the stock wiring harness? Maybe one that is better than the stock one since the one that came on these boats seems to be weak.
