I have about the same, turns out I was wishful thinking that I had and inch each side. I have maybe 1 and 1/4 total(1/4 one side and 3/4-7/8 other side). I did feel around and don't feel any screws or see any separation of the inside carpeted board from the fender.

I have a different trailer but (DHM) but have about the same clearance as everyone else...maybe 1" on each side when centered. I re-carpeted them this year and like others said, put a round head bolt through them and a safety nut inside the well. That's what they had before. I don't have any scratches. The wife and I are very careful about centering the boat as it can easily sit on top of the side guide and smash the board, that's why I replaced them this year as the previous owner didn't seem to care.

Sounds like boat mate is having a bad run. My trailer got delivered w paint chips all over it. I'm heading to my dealer to pick up a brand new trailer when I get the chance. But I will give boat mate this once they found out trailer had a problem they quickly built a new replacement and took care of the issue right away. I think they would be just as responsive w the problem at hand here.

It sounds like there are issues with boatmate. Would it be wise to select a different trailer if buying new?

I personally like boatmate... but they could be having a production issue in that area... but I can say this.. they stand by their product... like chris states above.. trailer has some imperfections and they are replacing. I had a torsion axel fail 3 years after buying my moomba... they replaced my axel, tire, and fender at no charge since I was the original owner. hard to beat that.

Can anyone direct me to the proper person to talk to at TIGE and Boatmate?

I have been trying to have this same issue fixed since fall.
It took Tige 6 months to deny my claim and it seems like my dealer has no pull with either company to get a blatant trailer/boat issue fixed on a boat that is less than one year old.

I'm just gonna say this is sad.

I would say that is true except, I have left multiple messages via both phone and email for Tony Fussell and have not had them returned.
I am obviously upset at how I have been treated. I am also upset that it is spring, we have a short boating season here in Michigan, and my boat is still sitting broken.

Tony is the sales manager. Not saying he shouldn't return you calls, but he isn't a service or warranty guy.

I'm saying its dealer because there are more than a few cases of guys on here getting this type of thing fixed under warranty. Why is your dealer not able to get it approved when others have?

Either way it sucks and it should be taken care off. But you shouldn't have to be chasing down people at Tige, that is your dealers job. Thats what you paid for when you bought that boat. The trailer damaged your boat so badly it's unusable? Wow the others where just some surface stuff…stuff that needed fixed for sure, but nothing that would have rendered the boat inoperable.

Yes, I know that. But if you knew the problems I have had you would realize why he is my first call.
Also he said he was going to work with Boatmate to get it taken care of, however, he has not returned calls or emails and my dealer has said they cannot warranty it after he said he would help get it taken care of.

The dealer is blaming me and telling me my trailer is fine.
So now i get to drive an hour and half each way this Saturday after hours of fighting, just to prove my point. This is annoying enough, but what is more annoying is it was a listed issue along with 18 other issues I had when i put into storage with them SO THEY COULD WORK ON IT ALL WINTER and we are still dealing with it.

The other issues are getting fixed however, it is April and they are still working on the boat!
May I also add, that Tige' had to take the first boat they delivered back from me due to build issues.

I apologize for the Rant, I am just very very upset with the drama, I have had to go through with something brand new for the second time.

Jeepdude, do you mind elaborating on the build issues with our original boat? I don't mean to conjure up demons, but I remember seeing our boats side-by-side in the production line photos and am curious what they were. It might give me insight to a couple issues i had.

Here was the list from the fall.

Believe me, it was even longer when the boat was delivered.
Below is the list of things wrong with boat number 2 and the trailer:

                                General Boat:
                                1. Tower has major gash in paint from stereo install (confirmed by mechanic)
                                2. Boat needs at least 2 new ballast pumps as they keep blowing the breaker. (confirmed by mechanic)
                                3. Boat needs new shower line as it has permanent Kink which keep water from correctly flowing (confirmed by mechanic)

                                Vinyl:
                                1. Rear seat looks stained or as if there was an issue in the grey dye (confirmed by mechanic)
                                2. Passenger seat is already showing thread which means it was sewn to tight and will break open (confirmed by mechanic)
                                3. Dash has wrinkle in it that will not come out (confirmed by mechanic)
                                4. The cooler has a stain in it.

                                Fiberglass:
                                1. There are many issues with the convex vx. (One wasnt fixed and the others were caused by Tige's fiberglass people when they came to fix the original issues)
                                2. Front nose is beat up from bad front bumper... (you can see the front bumper on the trailer is tore up as well.)
                                3. Trailer tore up side of boat due to defect. (sent tony the thread showing multiple boats that had this happen last year.

                                Stereo:
                                1. The interior speakers have a lot of static at any volume over super low. (confirmed by mechanic)
                                2. The tower pops loudly whenever you hit wake or decent sized chop. (confirmed by mechanic)
                                3. Head unit has issue where tuner only gets one or two channels (confirmed by mechanic)
                                4. Head units pre-out hook up keeps falling out of stereo. (this is the wiring harness adapter add pre-outs to the stereo)

                                Trailer:
                                1. Galvanized trailer is rusting before even being used (Photos taken & shown to dealer before pick up)
                                2. Galvanization is flaking off in spots (Photos taken & shown to dealer before pick up)
                                3. Carpet on Bunks is already wearing (Photos taken & shown to dealer before pick up)
                                4. Wiring is falling down in places (Photos taken & shown to dealer before pick up)
                                5. Front bumper was defective from factory and caused front nose issues (Photos taken & shown to dealer before pick up)
