I assume the new brackets will be plug and play to the existing platform?

That is my understanding, however, there is a modification that will need to be made to the part of the VX that mates with the back of the hull, which is why its a dealer issue.

So you are saying that the actual VX piece has an incorrect angle on it, meaning once you replace the brackets, the VX won't line up correctly where it mates (or rather almost touches) the transom? So they have to modify the Vx itself, not just the brackets?

I wonder how long it is going to take to get the dealers up to speed and get the correct brackets manufactured. I am starting to think that our northern season will be over by the time this gets taken care of. I am starting to think about removing the VX and ride without it. Sounds as if that might be the best option for all of us VX owners. Any thoughts on this?

You can always try without it, not going to hurt anything.

The only issue I can see with removing it is that the swim platform is wider than the non VX platform. From the looks of it, it would likely cut into the wave, which would be annoying as hell to me. But, to your point what else can you do?

Looking at the vx, with altering the angle they would have to shave down the upright piece against the boat to accommodate the new angle. That's disappointing because my dealer is 3.5 hrs one way :/

                  Mine is 7 hours away.

The wake is fine without the VX on it. Been running without since June and the wake is great. The swim platform does not interfere at all.

Thanks for the feedback without the VX. Looks like the VX is getting dropped before the next time out...give us something to compare at least. As mnpracing said "what else can you do?"

For you guys with the dealers so far away, I am very sorry for everything you will have to go through. I am frustrated with the dealer 1.5 hours away - can't imagine 7

Just use a sawzall on it like they did for the West Coast Open

Perfectly happy with the wake with out the VX currently so no huge itch to put it back on. Biggest and longest wake on the lake so how can I complain. Pro ballast system I am running Rear full, 1100 sac under under seat as full as I can, Front full, 400 on floor and rear drivers side about 30%. Also normally about 4-5 ppl in boat. Run about 10.8 to 11 mph. Taps at 2-3. Any higher it washes out.

                            That is correct.

Thank God, no. Don't try this in a campground next to the lake. We ended up with something only Dr. Frankenstein would be fond of looking at, but hey, it worked.

The wake without the VX is great, but I wouldn't give up on it, its really better with. And now that others are starting to get the right setup, they are confirming it only takes about 250-300 lbs of extra weight to achieve the same push/size as you did before the VX.

Chris Kinsey is testing with one for Wake the Desert, and they run in 8-10 feet of water which was a huge concern of mine. We have hit shallow water with the VX, and it didn't like it when we did the Delta shoot. But CK is dialing it in, and based on what he texted me last night, it is not coming off of his boat:

Without the VX, and most other boats you don't have much adjustability without re-weighting. He is now going to be able to set the wake for his son who likes it hella steep and big, to mellow for his daughter with just a taps setting. That is what the whole point is, IMHO.

Curiously, the VX on our Z1 measures just under 4", which is correct as I understand it... Unless we messed up the measurement, but it seemed pretty straight forward.

We are running pro ballast, with extra bags equivelant to the custom bags, and an additional 400lbs of lead (this made a huge difference). The wave is great, we are loving the boat, but taps provides no adjustment to it - as mentioned somewhere in this thread.

We are going to the factory, RJ rode your boat so he will have a good feel for it.

As far as I know all of the brackets were incorrect on the Z3/Z1.
