    Surf set up RZR

I know this has been beat to death but I find a few conflicting set ups and want to confirm. I am just finishing up adding 400's to the rear so I will be about 100 lbs over stock surf ballast, 50 lbs. each rear locker. No convex VX, if that matters.

We usually ride with the boat pretty light passenger wise as we have a cabin and everyone would rather lounge on shore than ride in the boat. So I know I should fill the tank and the bag on the surf side. Where I found some conflicting info is do I fill both bags in the front or just the surf side? I saw set ups both ways.

Speed seems to be 10.4 mph. Thanks

RZR like full ballast up front all the time for surfing and wake boarding. Fill the whole bag to keep that RZR bow down with all that weight in the rear. It is a 20 foot boat! I shift my riders all the time to list the boat enough to get that perfect mean wake!

My surf speed is usually 8 and it like to so much. RZR is one of the best, my husband modded it and it surfs like a charm in water. Waiting for more such rides.

        I have the same setup:
        Bow 400 lb full
Aft Port 250 lb hard full
Aft Port 400 lb fat sac full
Aft Starboard 250 lb (maybe half full)
        Speed 10.8 Taps 3 with 2-3 passengers

We're going swap out the 400 lbs fat sack for a 750, then move another passenger up to the bow. I find myself getting closer and closer to one of Squid's recommended setups.....

I couldn't get much of a wave at all last time and thought it was because I just have the basic 900. I think my problem is first i tried just front ballast on surf side and that wasn't any good. Then I totally drained the front and that was better. Then had my wife drive from the observers seat and that was best. Excited to try it now with the new plumbed in 400's and the front full both side.

          Thanks for the tips.

Quick question on the goofy side wake for the rzr. I ride goofy and my wife rides regular. The regular wave looks just like some I have seen on here. It was really good. The taps helped clean it up when we put it at 4. We have the surf ballast system. It was surf side locker full, non surf side about 25% full, front full and speed was about 10.6. Wave was awesome my issues are with the goofy side. I tried the same set up and could not get the wave clean. It was tall but the prop wash wouldn't get clear of the wave. What do you guys do different for the goofy side. I think it's the taps position that is the problem but every position we tried didn't really get it clean like the regular side. Thanks for the input.

I run goofy foot also. I run both front bags full, aproximatley 900lbs in surf corner locker, no weight on opposite side surf locker speed 10.6-10.9 and taps between 3-5. I also put atleast one person in bow on the surf side. Some times we will throw a 500lb sac in the bow.

Goofy foot is in a way good. I did a very risky job by surfing during my pregnancies day. That was one lot of a risk to take. But though it was fun it was pain. nursing bra

My wife and I both ride goofy and we had the same prop wash issue messing up the wave on our RZR. I made a surf flap like others have done and now our goofy side wake is super clean at all taps positions.

It sounds like you are lacking the people in the boat. Less people means more sacs! 900# and a driver sounds kinda light.

I run an old 1100 in the rear v-locker Probably get 4-500 out of it. both port side tanks full and a 300 pound utilisac under the seat.
I now have the height and push, but i need a bigger pocket.
I have tried filling both sides of the front and it has made it worse.
I'm thinking more bow weight is needed, but maybe i am to far listed(is there such a thing?)
I'll keep tinkering and eventually get it right.

What speed are you at? I have found with more weight in the back, you may either need to run your speed up to 11.5, or put the taps plate at 2, or both.

thanks for all the reply's i'm going to keep messing around with it to get it dialed in. i have 3 bags that i can fill and move around the boat to get it right. i'm running at about 10.6-11.0. i'm not sure how much my wife was adjusting the taps. while surfing i could really see underneath the swim platform. i have never seen this while surfing behind any other boat does anybody see this as well or is this my problem? every other boat i have surfed the platform doesn't look like this. There is also a small "line" in the face of the wave towards the top. its not quite at the lip of the wave but you can feel it while carving up into the lip. i'll try and post pics today.

I believe I have my RZR wave dialed in really nice now. Here's what I'm running:

                            Reguler side
Basic stock ballast (250 hard tank under the floor and 400 full up front)
1100lb in the rear locker (only fills to about 700-800 I'm guessing. I have passive draining but with the following lines it doesn't matter much)
370 under the side seat (Game Changer!!! that weight so low and outside in the boat made a huge difference for wave shape)
750 in the seat running along the side

Taps at 3-4 depending on steepness preference. 4 is really tall.
                            Speed 10.6

                            wake.jpg

I plan to play around with distributing more weight to the front soon, but usually the taps plate covers any change in length I need
