boat dies after 3000 rpm

Can't get my 04 24V past 3000 rpm. It starts chugging and drops to idle and then high idles at 2000 rpm. All I did was change the fuel filter.

6.0 liter with gforce fuel pump.

Ok now it is doing it when I hammer on gas or around 4300 rpm. So stumped on this one.

Oil pressure issue? 75 psi at 4300 rpm.

Is it making a hissing noise like the motor is sucking air?

I would second the throttle position sensor and if that isn't it then it could be related to the variable valve timing system. I have been having some similar issues with my 6L and I think I have it narrowed down to the little actuator valve that controls the cam position. The part is cheap but the problem is that it is a major job to get to it in order to replace.

I would start by having it scanned and seeing if it is throwing any codes to point you in the right direction.

Once again must have been bad gas. Added a couple cans of Seafoam and the problem went away. Boat is running great now.
