So how about 2 alpha z tower cracks in 2 weeks?

Not near as bad but Christ this should not happen. It seems to be due to a QC error at the plant, must have been a Friday afternoon considering they forgot a tige logo on one side of the boat.

I did not notice in correct bolts until this crack occurred that the bolts are INCORRECT on one side of tower, therefore the bolt did not pass thru and into the opposite side to lock but only screwed into the Interior portion of the putting 235 hours of wakeboarding leverage on one thin piece of aluminum. BS PURE BS.

Granted its not bad yet but c'mon tige ship your boats with the correct parts... I wouldn't have caught this if I wasn't so anal about the keeping the boat nice. I just hope you all check your alpha Z's

    Yikes!

Are you sure the shorter bolt did not shear inside?

It did not look to be sheared and it was missing the washer seen on the right

Check the inside of the channel -- on similar bolts on my 09 tower, at times the washer bound up and the bolt threaded out of it, leaving the washer in the channel of the tower.

Sounds a lot like what could have happened to mine (not sure though), 2009 Z1. Got it welded for $200 at my dock.

FYI - if you want to explore that option, watch out for the springs on the back of the tower base. I snapped the wire

I guess I'll stick with my pins for my tower and not move over to the current thread setup. I know the pins go all the way across and they are easier to install and remove too, which is good since I have to drop my tower to get it in my garage every time I take the boat out.

Sorry this happend to you. But I would say your dealer is more at fault. When the boats come from Tige the towers are folded and the dealer puts them up. So the dealer should have caught the problem and made the correction. When I worked at the Tige dealership I did alot of the preps and this should have been caught by the person who preped this boat. Now if you bought the boat from Tige then I can see you gripe with them. Same with the logo upon prepping the boat the tech. should have noticed the logo was missing and made note and Tige would have sent one out.
Now that I am back in the car dealership I see the same thing. Check in new cars all the time...missing an antena , center cap or maybe some floormats. Its my job to make sure its all there and installed correctly before it gets to the customer.

I do somewhat agree with you kko but if the logo took me a month to notice with daily use I can't blame the dealer for not picking that up. Also like I said I completely missed this as well. If 2 people put the tower up and threw in the bolts or if you didn't pick up both at the same time like I happened to you would never know, like I said it took me 2.5 sunmers to notice. IMO it's inexcusable to have let a boat leave the factory missing a logo. Let alone reach in the wrong parts bin and ship the boat with incorrect parts. It's also bad that the dealer let the boat come to us in this shape...

The main fault falls to the dealer as KKo said a dealer preps all the boats shipped in and every boat comes with an inspection sheet you only see one boat yours , the person prepping sees many and gets accustomed to what is correct and not, there are only 2 handles shipped like that with the boat and would be very hard to miss the difference when in the shipping bag.
Also we have to see that the tappered washer is bottom out to the handle, you can see that the one you have is partially unscrewed that will also cause a problem beause the tip wont penetrate the other side, sorry for your problem but it should be taken care of under warranty.

Still brand new boat was bought to avoid issues, summer is short here and I am not pleased with the fact that I will likely have to miss several weeks due to negligence.

The washer was not unscrewed in the tower but rather slid off when I grabbed it. The washer is what called my attention to the other issue. It looks like a bolt from a vector tower was shipped rather than alpha Z.

So since you are a dealer, are those bolts on the check list?

I have never had an issue with the threaded setup. In contrast, the original pins always seemed to be turning to the disengage position. I much prefer the threaded setup. Also, I think the threaded setup was a "recall" issue.

The boats are shipped with the towers locked down with support brackets, you have to remove the brackets and raise the tower into position, the handles are shipped in a parts bag usually in the glove box, so you would have to see the difference before you installed them it would be ovious when you pull them out of the bag.

Also we inspect to make sure that the tip of the bolt where its machined goes into the guide of the outter half so it doesnt push the tower apart.
