    14" prop on 24V?

In searching the forums, I've come across quite a few who seemed to feel that a 13.5" prop is the maximum that the 24V can handle but some have even tested a 14.5" though it isn't clear if they kept them there long-term. I have 7/8" clearance between a 13.5" prop and my hull currently.

Has anyone had any real problems with a 14" prop on these boats? Dropping that clearance down to 5/8" is a little scary.

    Thanks

I think it is only a problem when you hit something or if you have a mastercraft like I did.
    Be excellent to one another.

Just use hdpe to shim the trailer bunks to gain clearance.

I think the clearance limitation is with the hull, not the trailer.

Nope, I am running a 14 and I have zero gel coat burn. Works like a charm. Acme will give you limits but I know 14" was close.

Duffy, Are you running the 5-blade as your main prop?

Yep, to me it's one of the greatist things I have ever put on my boat

Duffy, what specific prop are you running and how do you use your boat (surf/board/ski/tube)? We have an '07 24ve and mostly surf and are looking at the 1235 primarily for surfing with the occasional ski and a good amount of tubing with the kids. We run 1300 to 2500 lbs rear and 600 to 1000 lbs front.

From what I remember, I ran a 1235 (14.5") on my 2005 24V and didn't have any problems (until I destroyed it on a submerged rock).
