    Hi guys,

Count me in. I don't do a whole lot of hydrofoiling right now, but I may in the future, and after seeing that Puablo's arm practically ripped off I want to get one.

    Thanks

I bet we can get 20 of them if we post it on foilforum.com. For the foilers, some sort of release is considered just part of standard equipment. But it is unheard of for lots of people who only wakeboard or surf.
I just saw it posted over on foilforum. I guess we are talking 20 total? THey also have it going on Planetnautique and Malibu crew.

Thanks Heli-Doc for participating and to Tall for helping spread the word. I am trying to change the model that this product is only for foilers. Every rider behind the boat or even in the boat could benefit from this device

As you found out, it doesn't matter where the buyers come from. I currently have it posted on Planet Nautique, Malibu Crew, Correct Craft, Momba, Sanger Nation, and Wakeboarder. It is mentioned on the foil forum by someone else and Ball of Spray. GBs are not allowed on MasterCraft TT and WakeWorld. Is there any other site I'm missing?

          UPDATE:

I just spoke with Jake at SkySki. I count 10 people committed to buying the product between the different forums. The Malibu Crew is kicking our butts, by the way. Jake has only received 4 confirmed orders. They do not want to ship now and issue refunds, it would be a paper work nightmare. One we get to ten confirmed orders they will start processing invoices and will ship them when we get to 20.

So first thing is to send an email to Jake expressing your interest in placing an order. Then spread the word so we can reach 20 and get these things on our boats.

TeamAllen. Jake emailed me back and said he added me to the group buy list on his end on 6/25. So I should be one of the 4. Thanks again. If it hits 20, that would be great.

I talked to Jake today and committed.

He said that I was about number 13, and that 3 had committed just today.

Let's see if we can get this up to 20!

Thanks Larry! It looks more promising after today. I hope we can push it over the top during the weekend? We should only need about 5 or 6 more at this point.

I wonder if a tube pulls more than 800 lbs?

I am on the fence but might sign on if this gets close to 20.

Thanks for thinking about it. We are getting there.
I wondered about a tube also. One of the reasons I was told not to pull a tube from the tower was because it could deflate, drag in the water, like an anchor, and pull the boat over?

The cool feature of the Comptech product is that it tells you how much tension pressure is exerted and then you could adjust it based on that info.

Yeah, that was my thought too. And it would solve the submarine issue. But only if normal pull weight is less than 800 lbs. Would alleviate concerns about towing from the tower too.

How does the cinch max work? Is it just velcro in line with the rope? If so that is very clever.

I'm not sure I need something as fancy as the comptech but going with nothing seems just plain dumb after reading this thread.

I would agree that going with nothing is not smart. Just do your research and go with what works best for you. I think of this like an airbag in my car. I hope to never need it, but I am glad it's there, if I do. If I were looking at a car that was $525 more with an airbag vs. one without I know which model I would choose. Fortunately, I have never been in an accident where the airbags have deployed and I have never had a rope accident that has injured anyone. That doesn't prevent either of them from occurring in the future.

Here is an unfortunate accident where a 13 year old girl lost her arm while kneeboarding behind a Malibu.

Recently (Last month) there was a rope/arm accident from one of the admins on Planet Nautique. He is now looking for a rope safety device.

I'm working with Jake today to firm up my participation. I'm not convinced it's the perfect solution but after researching I do feel that it's the best solution for me. I personally feel that the consistency and repeatability of the numeric dial on the Comptech unit is superior to the velcro length method of the cinch max. While I don't feel that this will prevent all injuries, hopefully it will prevent MAJOR ones. It's one of those things where as my children become more involved behind the boat, I don't want to be asking myself what if. Thanks for putting this together Mike! Also, if anyone else is considering purchasing, Jake had mentioned that the group buy may not remain open until the end of July.

The group buy is currently at 18 orders.
