    Help with Buying a Tige

    Hello folks!

First time boat buyer here. I have my heart set on a Tige and I came across the following offer. I have been reading these forums for quite some time now and I respect your opinions. Any comments on whether you all think this is a good deal (or not) would be greatly appreciated!

Here is the listing and pics (attached)3F63q13H35rb5q75M8d67e903b23aa314169e.jpg3Le3If3qa5Ld5Ne5r7d67d07d328147f210d4.jpg3rc3F13Ja5F75sc5tad67d9834b2e75671a62.jpg3K33t63N55Ed5qd5tdd67806a7bae16ac14b9.jpg3Kc3qd3Nc5Gd5qa5t2d6710f68071a953199d.jpg3td3Fa3He5r75sf5t1d67f4745c1b2a36136d.jpg:
98 Tige 2200i fuel injected V8. Low hours.well maintained, runs perfectly. New stereo (over 3k invested, top of the line Wet Sounds tower speakers) Tower was recently powder coated red. custom towable cover included. 370 hours on engine.

I think this is a $15K deal, but seller is asking $19K....

I just sold my families old 1997 ski centurion elite. The hull was basically the exact same. Actually, I think tige and centurion borrowed the same hull design. Our boat was identical to yours, same hours, newer phat tower, same engine etc. We sold it for $12k. Now tige's are a tad bit more, I would say $15k would be a great deal. You have to remember, the boat is now 13-14 years old and was probably around 35-40k brand new, maybe less.

fuel injected...that means the engine is newish. At that time, I think the only engines available were carbeurated. I suspect the owner feels he ought to get some of that back in higher resale.
      Be excellent to one another.

I have the exact same boat, just one year newer, EFI was an option in 97 as well. I would say $15 is a fair price for a clean boat.

The motor is definetly injected. It's a little different from mine though.

TA, does your's have the plastic lid for the flame arrestor with all the motor data? Mine does.

See if he has it. I am a little curios about the white on the alternator pully and the white dust on the carpet next to it. Find out where he boats and if its a salt lake.

Other than that, it sure looks like a well put together, well maintained piece. It's not some family's summer beater that's kept at the lake house and then stored at the marina where it gets taken for speed run by the dock boy before they stuff it in a barn for the winter. It's got a nice tower, either a Samson or a Phat ( I can never remember the little differences). Both know to be perfectly decent towers. I remember them being the first real solid tower that also looked good. It's got a nice bimini and what appears to be a flag holder even. The interior looks factory correct as well, right down to the plastic cup holders. That cover ain't too shabby looking either. Trailer looks well maintained as well. Everything on that boat has been on it for a while now and it all looks to be in great shape. It's connected to nice clean truck with a good looking chocolate lab in the back. What do want from ad? It all screams nice boat by good guy.

That's the thing though, its an ad. Boat must be driven and inspected in person, IMO. It's certainly one you should look at if its what you're looking for, I think. It certainly one of the nicest ones I've seen for sale in a long time.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

If your a serious buyer go check it out in person. Take it to the lake and if everything is good I would offer him 15 like you said. Looks very clean.

$15 with tower, speaks and matching bimini be a great deal. $19 is a bit much I think. Looks pretty clean though. Go for a test run see how it performs, maybe he will be willing to move on the price some.

Nicky, mine has the small plastic top that just covers the round flame arrestor.

Mine has the plastic lid with all of the data as well. Mine is actually TBI not multi-port injection. At the time of purchase there were three options from the factory. Carb., Throttle Body Injection (TBI) or the (MPI) Black Scorpion ($3,500 upgrade cost)

take this for what its worth.. your a first time boat buyer... then test the boat... see if it checks out.. but also verify that you like an Direct drive? some people love them.. others dont. but figure out if you like the layout.. fit function and feel. then decide if its the boat for you..

you asked for opinions and that is mine. Dont have your heart set on anything until you drive\test it and fall in love. Even if that means picking another brand, find the boat that fits you and your needs\activities.
