    RZ2 engine choice 343 vs 409

Curious what motor you RZ2 people have and why you choose what you bought.

343 is just fine - cheaper and hard to justify the return on the 409 upgrade. Save your money for ballast and audio.

        343. Never have thought I needed more.

Didn't want to spend more on something I didn't need, and I had heard that the 409 may have more maintenance issues (although I never really confirmed that).

Boat my boat off a dealers lot, didn't have the option to upgrade engines but I don't feel like I need more power, I load it up heavy for surfing and it's been great.

Im impressed with how well everyone says the 343 does in the RZ2.....I have the 343 in my RZR and it does fine, but loaded down with several people in it I could use a tad more power. I figured if I get an RZ2 I will get the 409.

I too am curious to see what the 349 does with 2500lbs of ballast and a few adults on board at wakeboard speeds.

I know what my RZR does with that setup....409 for me on RZ2 for sure.

When I bought my boat I flew down and tested both engines. Matt surely remembers that day!

Anyways.. The standard engine performed more than adequately however I chose the 409 because of the high altitude of my home location as well as the fact that I opted to go with the larger RZ4.

You won't be disappointed with either engine but as a couple posters mention you can never have too much especially if you're going to be running a full boat with ballast.

                    Cheers!

I use every ounce of power with the 409. No way could go less. I do feel that tige props them a bit high. My 24V came with a 14.5" pitch and the z3 came with a 16.5 pitch. My 24V with 6.0 375 owns the Z3 out of the water.

I know what the 409 does with the stock prop and some people in it...I wouldn't want to see what the 343 is like maybe I'm expecting to much? Needless to stay I love my 409 with my new prop, by the time fuel, gear, people, ballast, etc gets put in it adds up quick.

I have the ACME 1235 I really want to go to a 15" but I don't think I'll have the clearance to make it happen unfortunately.

2009 RZ2 with the 409 PCM and an Acme 1235 prop. If you plan to load it down to surf, get the 409. I have never regretted the upgrade and it makes me happy when I think about my 409
