I have now used this on several items. Also, there is a review online that is similar to my take.
The biggest drawback is NeverWet leaves a white haze and makes the protected object very rough to the touch. Also, it does not seal fabric or materials with lots of porosity. For example, I sprayed it on a few spare docklines. The resulting ropes were rough and gummy to the touch and, if splashed with water would bead up but when immersed, the rope still sucked up water.
INeverWet was useful for coating a few things that stay under the deck. For example, my nylon bag first aid kits were always soaking up water somewhere. I sprayed the heck out of them and do not care about the white haze and tacky feel--they stay dry. I also use it on the canvas slip cover for my shore spike. It will not stand up to a lot of water but will repel most.
Bummer this product was not more useful.

Guys,
I personally know the guy who invented this stuff! I know they have come up with better formulas since they originally launched it with Rustoleum. I recently asked him about treating my cover. They have a couple ideas and just got some test samples from evolution covers. I'll let you know what they come up with and be sure to post the results!
