Good to know. It probably has the 6.2L thus a 14000lb gcvwr. That extra 1000lbs makes all the difference. I'm looking at a Magnason blower just to ease my mind.

    Are you from sask?

Yes it has the 6.2l and works great but uses double the fuel pulling the boat.

I am from sask but am in the process of moving to Calgary. Just bought a place up in the NW

I pull a Z3 with a Qx56 and trailer weight with boat and full fuel is 6,750lbs. Of more concern with trucks and trailer is the weight of the trailer basically twice and heavy as the tow vehicle it will push you around be careful. Breaks help a lot but best tool you have is common sense.

Double the weight... double the fuel... makes sense. Right?

I'm from Sask originally too. Been here 15 years.

What year is the Q56? How does it handle the drive? They look like a pretty sturdy unit.

QX56 sturdy unit. I only make comment to cause consideration to common sense. Light tricks with HEAVEY cargo lead to big problems. Add a dog and a couple of kids what could possibly go wrong?

Do you mean light truck with heavy load? This comes up a lot but what about tractor trailers? 18 wheelers or transports as they say overseas.

True good point and perfectly valid although for the most part these are professionally accredited drivers with hopefully lots of experience. Lots of professional drivers pulling boats for sure but the fact remains that there is no training mandated right now for pulling these 7,000lbs trainers.

I tow my 2012 RZ2 with my 2012 TDI Q7. I barely know it's back there and I get 20 mpg when towing. I know it's a smaller boat and mine is a diesel but it has the same towing capacity as yours.

Just weighed the boat and trailer, 6400 lbs.

My guess was 6500lbs, so pretty close. Is that full of fuel or empty? Anything else in there?

That's full fuel, full cooler, standard lake equipment including anchor. I also have the basic stereo system but the factory 2 batteries installed.

So by using a clever trick I call math, a new Z3 must be around 7000lbs similarly equipped. Dr Terry take note.

Terry, do you have an update for us? I'm curious how it worked out for you.

                                We tow our 2012 Z3 with a 2011 Mercedes ML63

From Calgary to Shuswap every year

ML63 is rated at 7,200 Lbs

Vehicle has LOTS of Engine and Brakes, but struggles on overall weight and wheelbase...

Can DEFINITELY feel the boat behind us, particularly when it's windy

                                No issues yet though!
