    Mounting WS420SQ under dash on Z3 ?

    Hey guys,

I just ordered the WS-420 with the wet wire kit and want to mount it under the dash on the starboard side.

Does anyone sell a mounting kit or can anyone give some tips/insight for when it arrives ?

    Thanks as usual !

    Travis.

Well I'm sure it's not much different than my z1 we just installed a 420 sq on. Adevine87 built me a bracket when he installed it on my boat. I can post a pic later. I will have him post here how he built the bracket .

I think other people have mentioned deck ties. Fleet Farm has a decent selection to choose from. That's what I did on my R20.

I have a Z3 and I have my ws-420 mounted almost exactly as this one above. I just mounted it on the right side of the steering wheel. Then I have the microphone sideways clicked onto the right panel above the cup holders. I will try and remember to take a picture tomorrow.

I did the almost exact same thing except I used 2" strap aluminum and all stainless screws deck strap should have the same effect it should be galvanized steel

Here is where I have mine mounted. I love the location as it gets it out of the way a bit and easy to control everything with your right hand. All I did was take the 420 apart, drill holes in the top plate and through bolt it to the underneath side of the dash, below the uselessly shallow pocket and then reassemble the 420. I also did have to take the panel that the throttle is mounted to off, trim the corner so that the 420 would tuck in better and then re glue the vinyl down on the back side.

This pic was to show my conversion I did to have the USB connection there in the dash instead of the 1/8" audio so the 420 is out of focus but you get the idea.

We mount the WS-420q in the dash or side panel, depending on the manufacturer.

I really like the look of the in dash look I think it looks killer! I would have a hard time cutting in to the factory dash panel on brand new boat not knowing what new accessories that will be coming out in the next few years like the idea of being able to interchange something not being so permanent

when you install a ws-420 do you lose your volume control on the tige touch and transom remote? Can it only be controlled with the ws-420?

Depends on witch output you are connecting from your headunit to the ws-420-sq some clarion headunits direct out thats has no volume control i think they are the green set of rca as long as you connect to the front or the rear main outs you should be good

An EQ, like the WS-420SQ, does not take over control in any way, of the Head-unit or TT. It simply is in the RCA signal path between the head-unit and the amps. With the WS-420 mounted right at your finger tips, you will have control of the tower and in-boats/sub volume with the turn of a dial, so much more convenient then navigating through the TT menu. Under normal operation, you will have the head-unit volume set at about 80%. The you use the volume knobs on the WS-420. If you want to use the transom remote, turn the head-unit volume down, turn the WS-420 volume up. Now you can use the head-unit volume via the transom remote.

                            Ok guys
Which way are you running the wires from under the dash starboard side over to the amps in the port locker ?

I purchased the wet wire kit with the ws420 and assumed there would be some good instructions along with it.

Any tips for wiring this thing up ? Really would like to get it in before I head out for holidays on Friday !

                            Thanks !

Your boat is a lot newer than my old '08, so this may not help at all, but I cut the dash and below is a couple of pics during the install...
