Last fall at the tigeowners Lake Mead reunion, I was the lucky winner of the "Pimp My Tige" grand prize (it seems to help when your kids are the ones pulling the winning name from the hat ). Tigé Boats had really gotten behind the reunion with support, including sending Dom Legace, Chase Hazen, and Ben Pigeon to attend. Also, a brand new dealership had just started carrying Tigé and was there with a new RZ4 and offering some raffle prizes. Needless to say, we were extremely excited to have won the prize, and I started talking over possible upgrades with the dealer. They were checking with Tigé regarding what upgrades could be done and how we could package a few of them together to make the most of the opportunity.
And then the correspondence with the dealer fell silent. At first I thought they must just be taking some time off around the holidays, but as it got longer without any return calls or emails, I started to get worried. When I drove by their location, the exterior signage was still there, but all the interior furniture was gone. Crap. I contacted Jean at Tigé and asked if they knew anything. After checking into the situation, Jean confirmed that they were no longer a Tigé dealer. Crap. But... she told me that Tigé Boats would honor the Pimp My Tige prize directly from the factory. I had been worried that I was SOL with the dealer gone, but Tigé stepped up and really came through for me. Thank you so much to everyone at Tigé Boats. I am impressed and thankful for your actions.
So, after some back-and-forth discussions with Tigé, they shipped me out a SeaDek kit for the swim platform, transom activity center, and walkthrough, an underwater LED light, and a PTM Edge mirror with windshield mount. Also, I wanted to replace the lenses on my alpha Z tower forward lights, so they sent complete new light assemblies because the lens attachment has changed. And finally they threw in some air duct to replace that which has torn or been crushed. The box of goodies:
Old tower light on the left, new one on the right. Same with the installed pic - just to show the difference, the old one is on the left and new one on the right:
Underwater transom LED, installed:
SeaDek. On the swim platform, my '09 used a two-piece pad with a raised ridge running down the middle. Because the new platforms use a single piece, I asked SeaDek directly on their thoughts to address the center ridge. At their recommendation, I got some sheet SeaDek and first placed it where the original pads were located. This made the whole surface approximately the same height, and I affixed the factory pad across the top of it all. Feels great. One small issue - I think SeaDek shipped me cool gray instead of the storm gray I ordered, so the little bit of visible pad under the top pad is a different color...but it is still a nice upgrade.
And the location of the latch on the walkthrough hatch has changed since my '09, so I either had to elongate the hole for the latch or else move the latch itself...and I didn't feel like having to patch the fiberglass and gelcoat to move it, so I went with the larger cutout.
And the PTM Edge mirror. One more difference from my '09 to current models - the windshield frame is much thicker on mine. The OEM mount would not fit on my windshield. Spoke with PTM to ask if they offer a mount for a thicker frame. They said "no problem" and shipped a new mount to me the next day and just told me to send back the one from the factory once it arrived. Great customer service!
Thank you, again, to Tigé for following through on Pimp My Tige, even after the dealer wasn't available. AWESOME.
