    Perfect Pass - SAFETY

Has anybody been pulling a rider with the cruise set and need to speed up for SAFETY reasons, and can't? Im not sure if there is a setting i can change or not?? My last boat would speed up if you went way past the set cruise speed, or WOT.
    The story goes......
A friend of mine was driving my boat, and had the cruise set at 13mph pulling a young kid on a knee board. We had 2 adults in the bow (350lbs) and some small coolers in the walk way, and 5 adults in the main cabin of the boat, and the ballast empty. Yes we where heavy in the front!
The rider falls, the driver slows down, and i notice an idiot on a jet ski not paying attention headed towards our down rider Im yelling at the idiot on the jet ski, the boat driver is headed strait for our own rollers, and he does not have enough throttle to get the bow up fast enough before we take a huge wave over the bow. I thought the boat was gonna sink!
Needless to say there where alot of thing that went wrong.
    1. Dont let other people drive your boat that are not used to it!
    2. Dont let people set up front unless im driving.
    3. always let the waves hit the side of the boat.
    4. Fix the cruise set to disengage at WOT! For the safety of down riders, and the people in the boat. You never know when you need to speed up to get out of trouble!
    5. Run over all the jet skies you can!
Jet skies make people stupid, they are either looking strait down, or strait back at there tubber while they zig-zag behind other boats to hit there waves just like in my case yesterday.
Is there anything i can change to make the cruise turn off at WOT??

I have no idea how to help you with your problem but I have a solution that every lake needs to adopt as is the case with a lake I frequent. Lake Arcadia near Edmond ok has a wave runner section on the lake. Any wave runner caught going over idle speeds until they get there get slapped with a hefty fine by lake patrol. I can't stand wave runners that think its cool to swarm around the wake of my boat. Every lake needs to adopt the wave runner section policy IMO.

I agree some jetskiers can be quite dangerous. We had a pretty close encounter this weekend while we were at idle passing another downed skier.

When you are pulling someone slower than 18 mph don't use PP (except for surfers since they are so close to the back and going fairly slow). A kneeboarder that is going 13 mph isn't going to be able to tell if the speed changes by 1 or 2 mph. You can also shorten the rope to keep them closer to the boat. Coming back to pick someone up at 13 mph is fairly quick, did the driver not see the rider fall right away? I feel like my boat at 13 mph points the bow to the sky, impressive how you took water over the bow. I take water over our freeboard and bow all day long from wakeboard boats and surf boats, welcome to the club....it sux doesn't it.

I hate lake lice aka jet skiers - Need to have an air horn at the ready for the driver. We boat in intacoastal alot so always get stopped by coast guard, fish and wildlife etc so our horn is always at the ready- the boat horn is not enough with the jet skiers but you point and blow your air horn at them - spooks em every time. I hate jet skis!!

Yeah, i had no idea my friend was pulling the knee boarder on the cruise, but we would have had the same issue if we where surfing.
The jet ski crossed our wake, and the knee boarder fell, and the jet ski turned toward our boat to cross the wake again, and in doing so he was headed right toward the down rider, and looking back at his tubber the hole time. They need just need to stop chasing boats! Last year i had one almost hit the back of the boat.

On our current boat (I/O with 4.3 V-6) we installed PP StarGazer (GPS Controlled) about 4 years ago. With this unit, I seem to be able to "override" it 2 different ways.
1: Pull the throttle all the way back then quickly accelerate past the PP setting, this seems to work very quickly (sometimes there is risk of water over the bow if speed drops too much before accelerating again). With this, its good for the passengers to be aware.
2: Accelerate well past the set point - it allows it. This seems to take a while for it to realize to go past the set point.

I don't know if this only works on the StarGazer units as it is all I have had experiance with.

Give Mark or Gary at PP a call, they were GREAT to work with helping us set up our system. We recieved an incorrect cable with our PP (may not have been their fault, our boat is a little odd) and they had a new one to me the day after I spoke to them. That is GREAT service to get it across the boarder from Canada that fast and there was no charge.

Truth be told, I am a bit nervous about going from our GPS based system to the Tige system.

                Best of luck.

Sorry to hear there are so many PWC haters. I ride them and understand all of your complaints and frustrations. In my opinion I think there needs to be more education.

I just recently installed PP Stargazer Wake Edition and in my manual page 8 #6. "You can temporarily over-ride the system by applying more throttle. The engine
speed will increase for about 5 seconds before PerfectPass regains control."
