If Tige believed in "Keep it simple" we would not have Tige touch...LOL We would still have gauges and switches for all controls.. In fact in this new market I think the pressure is on Tige to be a bit more fancy...

I want to add push button start to my wish list as well. It's really cool!
interesting you say that... sitting on the 20v last night and my wife says.. I really like the rocker switches.. wish the rz4 was back to this setup...

its like the computer \ application field... we can add gadgets so its "cooler"! even if its not more practical.

This is why I think 2009 is a sweet spot for Tige -- AlphaZ, internal tanks, PCM engine, switches, and no TigeTouch.

I cant believe my ears when someone says they don't like the Tige touch, they probably don't have a smartphone either. Anyways, I must say Tige each and every year are making improvements and some years much bigger than others. They are definitely imo heading in the right direction. I'm on my third Tige and each one way better than the last. If they get the wakeboard better on the RZ2 than my Z3 now, it's going to be epic.
        GO BIG!!

I'm looking forward to a first time Tige with a Indmar in it.

Ouch. I think that is maybe an unreasonable criticism of an opinion. And, as it turns out, wrong. I do in fact have a smartphone (and live on it professionally and appreciate it personally) and work in a high technology field. So I would not classify myself as a Luddite, which the above comment implies.

I do not like TigeTouch for the same reason I dislike the touch system in our Nissan Armada--the hardware lacks sensitivity and the interface lacks elegance and ease of use. I do not want to change screens and find submenus to adjust boat function. I find it distracting and I would rather flip an immediate switch on the dash and pay more attention to driving and to my rider in the water. This is not a criticism of others that like and use TigeTouch effectively, it is just not for me (e.g., I always drive sitting on the bolster and dislike sitting on the seat but I do not think people that drive from the seat are wrong ... EDIT -- I really dislike the VisionAir seat).

I know a touch interface is the direction things are going -- ideally, my next boat is far enough in the future to have a lot of the issues I dislike now resolved.

what sub menus ? And what are you switching while driving ? one touch and system will adjust taps speed and ballast Simple less steps or work than switches.

I personally would have never updated boats if it there was no tige touch. I wanted it for ease and simple use for the wife. I just wish they spent more time on it.. Like rider profiles that would play my playlist of music under my rider profile.

Here is a thought about Tige Touch or any other touchscreen for that matter. Compare an interface built 10-15 years ago to one built this year and you will probably chuckle. Then compare an boat made 10-15 years ago and you might say that is a good looking boat. Technology (interfaces in general) gets outdated MUCH faster than boat design in general. My thought is how will an outdated and clumsy interface affect resale value of an otherwise great looking boat 10 or so years in the future? Don't mean to hijack the thread but relevant to the interests of the above posts.

You can't deny the simplicity, ease of use and timelessness of simple switches and gauges.

I can deny it.. The touch boats still have mechanical guages and switchs that control all the same stuff as the touch for back up. There is no way in hell Id take rocker switches over tige touch. That like saying I want a high end car with toggle switches lol.. Or I want a old big *** glass tube tv with shitty display over new HD OLED.. Lol Or I want a new charger but I want it carburetor cause of simplicity of less parts to break lol.. There is nothing slow or hate full of the touch other some some SOFTWARE GLITCHES THAT HAPPEN ONCE N A GREAT WHILE THAT T I G E SHOULD CARE ENOUGH TO FIX.. Even with the stupid **** it does once in a great while nothing a key cycle dont fix and works great.

That is my point, you would never buy a tube tv today because the tech has advanced so far. 10 years from now OLED tv's will be outdated as well. But most people can still appreciate a classically designed car or boat and enjoy it for it's core function as great industrial design can be timeless.

I'm not slamming Tige touch, it's arguably the best interface in a boat. I'm just saying in 10 years it might be the equivalent of a tube tv in an otherwise kicka$$ boat!

this is true.. We were talking about this last night.. Why companies are not building head units for cars that are simply a screen with built in amp.. Then allow that device to be control via smart phone.. let the know do all the computing and the head unit just display and control audio.. Simple, cheap and cost effective.. Stop trying to build head units with all this crap.. make it storage. amp and video.. silly to make it another device!

I have about every product apples makes and love their touchscreen. The tige touch is no iPhone, ipad, etc. I have to touch the tige touch just right otherwise the screen does nothing. Not to mention I question how well one of these screens would work when the boat is 10 years old. While my phone gets replaced every 2 years I still have my first tige (2006 with 570 hours) that has never had a problem. I've seen several new tiges break down straight from the factory. I like the fact that Mastercraft would let you build a boat without the touch screen in it for 2012 and I think for 2013 as well, not sure on the '14s.
