Flushing cooling system without running the engine.

Im installing new manifolds and risers that were clogged from rust scale. Anyway, I know the inside of the cooling system probably looks like hell. Is there a way I can flush the system out with out running the engine, such as pulling a thermostat hose and adapting a hose to that? I also, don't want to flush the crud into my new manifolds so I would run the manifold hoses over board. The only problem I can see is the thermostat itself will be shut because of the cold engine. I also, want to flush the system out with a bunch of cleaners.

Maybe I can just pull the thermostat and replace the housing without it, while I flush the system.

Better yet, Can I just pull the hose coming off the raw water pump. and hook a hose to that? It is post, v-drive cooling though.

I think you could pull the thermostat, put the housing back on, and then hook to your hose coming off your raw water pump to flush most of the stuff our of the motor. To flush your v-drive just unhook the inlet to the raw water and back flush thru the v-drive out the bottom of the boat.
