I was reading a thread on w.w. and the owner of a Tige' talked about starting on battery #1 and then switching to battery #2. Is there a switch like this on my boat that I am not aware of? Iwas under the impression that one was for accesories and the other was only for the boat. I could not find anything about my dual batteries at all in my owners manual. Thanks for you help!

I have a switch in the passanger side storage compartment in the rear. Are you sure you have Dual batteries? It is a pretty big switch. Says 1,2,1&2, AND OFF. I use only one when we are sitting with the sterio on and both when running.Everything happens for a reason

Tony, did you get Tige's dual battery system or did the stereo company that put the system in install the second battery?? Typically Capital Watersports doesnt order dual batteries from Tige. This is a good question to ask the dealership itself.....they can help you better on this. However on new Tiges there is no switch to change from battery one to battery two...instead we use a battery isolator which switches automatically and maintains a charge in both batteries...hope this helps

Darn Computers, i just typed a response and know it has disappeared. Yes Tige has gone to an isolator, in conjunction with a battery on/off switch. My understanding is that an isolator is more desirable, since it maintains a charged battery at all times, without worrying about switching back and forth between batteries. I also believe that an isolator will cut off power drain to a battery when it gets low on juice, leaving you enough to crank over your starter....
Can anyone comment further on this feature"?

Thanks Condor, I am not sure on who installed it. I will call C.W.S. The install looked so clean with boxes matching I just assumend it was the dealer after reading a previous thread about Tige' mid to late 06 came with dual Batteries! When my system and alarm was installed it was after the boat show and I chose to match a boat at the show that sounded really awesome. I know very little about systems other than I wanted one. My dealer handled everything So I never saw a Itemized breakdown just a flat price to upgrade my boat! Thanks for the imput!

I put an isolater in instead of a switch so that I wouldn't have to physically switch that big clunky Perko tucked away in a storage compartment. Instead the isolator does the switching for you. Much easier to install also. This does bring up a good point though. What wires go to what battery? Battery #1 is just for starting. Battery #2 is for accesories. The isloator is a switch that runs between the two batteries. It is wired to the ingition switch so that when you turn to ACC it cuts the power between the two batteries so that power is only being drawn from battery #2 while the engine is not running. When you turn the ignition to ON it opens that switch up and you are now opperating on both batteries. However, there is no true off switch for both batteries. I'm still deciding if I want to go through with hooking up the the big clunky Perko as well. I probably just see how it goes with just the isolator. You'll get your chance, smart guy.

There is really good information on Wakeworld about this topic if you can find it. I almost went with an isoator, but instead I bought a third battery and keep my perko switch turned to the position of the 2 battery side of the circuit. If I ever run the two batteries down, I just switch to the remaining battery.
I asked Tige M.D. about this (on this site a while back) and he said they work great...until they break. I think that they break rarely, but if the isolator breaks, you are guaranteed two dead batteries.Be excellent to one another.
