    Lake Mead reunion 2013

It is past time that we begin thinking about having a Lake Mead reunion again.

We have some major hurdles to overcome this year, and I think that has delayed anything getting done so far this year.

Tige has yet lost and gained another dealer in Las Vegas...It seems since Boats of Nevada left, we can't have anyone decent or anyone who sticks around long enough to train them how these things are supposed to operate. Anyone have a feel for the current dealership, and if they might be interested? Corporate has been outstanding to step in and help in what should primarily be a dealership endeavour, my hat is off to Tige for that.

We have been blessed to have uncrowded and buttery water out of Echo Bay Marina every year at the end of September, and now they have closed the marina. The ramp is still open, but as I understand it, there is no marina store or large group of docks there anymore. Can anyone confirm that all of the docks are gone except the tiny one by the launching area?

Lake Mead at the end of September has the best water conditions very consistently. I hope we can get together again to see how folks are doing.
    Be excellent to one another.

Would anyone consider the Temple Bar resort in the eastern arm of Lake Mead? It's 100 miles from Echo to there via land but just a thought, only 18 miles on the water. We'll finally be able to make it this year as we don't have a houseboat trip planned but I agree, the end of September has always been ridiculous weather out there. Let's get crackin!!!
Fixing everyone elses boat just so I can use mine...

18 miles by boat....That is not much at all. Keep the ideas coming. Are there docks there, and a marina store for supplies?

We have been to Temple bar several times, after discovering Temple Bar my family never went anywhere else when going to Mead. When towing your boat there there is no quick way to get there (I want to say its a good 2 hours from Vegas). But the extra distance keeps the crowds down. There are a hand full of rooms/bungalows to rent from the marina, there may even be some trailer from private parties, there is also a campground further from the water.

There were slips to rent (I'm not sure about house boats for rent), we always pulled our boat out and parked it infront of where we were staying. With the water low its quite a walk from the rental rooms to the water. The store was small, but always had ice and other essentials.

I do remember one year the water being really really low and it was a bear to load and unload the trailer with the ramp....but looking at google earth it looks like it has been repaved.

We always headed east past the narrows, then north. There was a nice sandy beach between the North and South Bay. But I don't think there were any spots for gas further north on the lake.

What about Callville? it might have some type of facility?

The closing of Echo bay was a factor in me selling the boat. I know there won't be any floatel's at Echo. The next closest marina is Calville Bay located in the lower basin. Boat traffic is significantly higher but it isn't a long ride through the narrows to the calmer and less congested water of the upper basin. The facilities at Calville Bay are much nicer than Echo Bay so it may actually be a better experience for those that wish to spend the night at the marina.

Temple is a great albeit smaller marina. It's just over an hour from Vegas, not bad, about the same distance that Echo is. We'll have to take a trip out there soon to give a better trip report.

9/21 should be good then? Temple Bar might be quite a drive for those coming from Utah. I've been there a few times. It is very remote and isolated for sure. I'm not trying to kill it, just wondered if there is a different road to get there from the north.

I would go wherever it is at. I think the main thing is to have dealer and corporate support to make it happen I would just launch at Echo and drive the boat 18 miles instead of the extra 2 hours of tow vehicle driving. I can cruise at 35 MPH, so that would only be 30 minutes cruising, if the water is good. But if the dealer would like to do something at Calville, that would be just fine. That time of year, the crowds have mostly died down anyway.

September 21 seems like a buttery time of year to me.

Has anyone developed a relationship with the dealer yet?

I called Callville Bay and spoke to Laura French 702-294-2746. They have a lounge up top and some thing down closer to the water. She was busy and said she would call me back after she checked her schedule for the 21st. Maybe someone local could stop by and check it out, to see if it would work?

Last year, we rented the houseboats for the weekend, but they stayed in the marina. Whats the cost difference to rent them for a trip out of the marine? Why cant we beach 2-3 of them and use them as the base for the event? probably be the same houseboats we used last year, but out of a different marina.

Either one works for me. Temple bar might be getting the floatels but they also have the motel. Haven't been to temple bar in a long time.
                              Let it be!!!
