Might be worth checking with CPROPES2005 it looks like he had some creative way to get perfect pass to work. It sounds like he figures out some way to dupe the throttle position sensor but it also sounded like he thought it wouldn't work for every engine.

    Quote from thread linked below:

In 06 Marine Power switched to throttle by wire where there is a throttle position sensor at sends an electronic signal to the engine and these are the motors that do not work with perfectpass. In throttle by wire versions of perfectpass there is no servo motor to physically adjust the throttle. It is all done with electronics so it just plugs in. What perfectpass told me is that while this approach works with most other throttle by wire motors they just could never get the bugs out of the electronic interface with the marine power engines.
What he said. You cannot get PP to work.

His 2006 almost certainly has a throttle by wire and is not going to work. That is the crux of the problem. With any luck, it was a super early 06 and did not yet have TBW, in which case, he would be golden. But I doubt it, the keypad was meant to work with MP TBW engines, IIUC.
    Be excellent to one another.

That really stinks Tall. I saw another thread with all your attempts for a fix for your buddy. I bet he was pretty upset.

Considering what dash it has, there is a slight chance that is the case. I certain hope it is.

No doubt its an 06 Ve with a Marine Power 340. And since it has the 06 Accu-Set touch pad on the helm, it has to be a TBW engine. There were some 06 boats with cable driven engines and PP, but Accu-Set would only work with the TBW engines, no ands ifs or butts.

All this talk of not having speed control just made me chuckle a bit. This will be my first season of ever owning a speed control system. I've been towing people behind boats for...20+ (yikes! 25yrs). The last 12 with my current boat. It can be done. If the boat performs correctly, its not even that hard. Like anything, you get used to it. If anything, it'll make you a better driver.

I guess what I'm saying is, its not the end of the world. If its as clean as its supposed to be, it'll still be a bitchin boat. Big picture.

True, where most of us "experienced" people find the value of PP / Speedset / Tigetouch / Accuset / etc... is when less experienced people drive the boat for us. I don't know about you but until I figured out the best way to get Speedset working it was almost not worth me attempting to be in the water unless I had an experienced driver. My brothers boat has nothing and he is glad when he gets a decent pull.

Agreed having a boat is better than no boat and good for the whole family.

Ute, you just need to find one good constant friend to take out all the time and get them good at driving.

You will be just fine. It will have a slightly increased learning curve for your drivers, and if you are as snobbish as I am, then when the control is .5 MPH off, it might bother you. But hand signals to the driver will get you having a good time.
