Anyone near Arlington???

That is the 06 with the first edition Tige cruise that I would personally never accept. There is not a digital display and the tiny red button is hard to see when it is light outside. It does work OK, so I wouldn't throw my boat away if it has it, but if I were buying a boat, I would only buy it as a last resort or spectacular deal.

Jeff, that is beyond generous! He is taking to a boat shop for a pre-purchase inspection. The guy I called at the shop remembered the boat because it was so "beautiful". He also had test driven last year when they replaced the speedo and he said it was a "very nice and clean" boat. So I'm feeling confident in what this report is going to tell me. Thank you so much for the offer, seriously, that is very generous of you.

I think I'm getting a pretty smoking deal, it's the shipping to Utah that is going to gouge. Any experience with affordable shippers?

That is an extremely rare dash pod for a Ve. I'd buy that Ve just for that. Well, not really but, it sure is nice that the other 99% of the Ve/RZ dashes of the period.

Can the cruise be replaced either by a PerfectPass or a newer version of the Tige cruise?

Other than that, it looks fantastic.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

Seriously? What's rare about it? I put a deposit on it last night and it's at the boat shop getting a thorough run through today. So by tonight I will know if this baby is coming to Utah!

You could have had a 2005 24V for $32,500 . New owner should be posting here soon.

Ute, How do they ship boats? Couldn't you fly here and rent a truck to tow it back and then drop the truck at the nearest airport?

You can't replace it with Perfect Pass. That is part of the problem. That was Tige's first venture into its own cruise control, and it was not thought out too well. Unless it has a PCM engine, which in that case, I think it would already have Perfect Pass. My buddy uses it and it works. But if I ask him to go 22.5 MPH, it usually ends up somewhere else because of lack of digital display, but it does hold that speed and you then adjust it until it seems about right. It is not 'set it and forget it', like all of the other speed controls I have used. I am probably one of the most vocal critics of it, because I also saw him try to find a workaround when it broke. Instead he broke down and bought another $500 pad. I am very doubtful that those will be available forever, and when it breaks in a few years, you are probably without a cruise control forever on that boat. It just doesn't make much sense for Tige to keep manufacturing them for something that only had a 1 year run.

The dash looks identical to my buddy's 2006 dash. Not sure what is rare about it.

It is very similar to the 2005 dash on my old boat.

That is a 22V dash. That dash was only in Ve's for half or so of the first year of the Ve. It's one of those weird Tige midyear changes. My buddy's 06 Ve has the other dash. I hate it.

I think what NickyPoo is trying to say is the newer Ve's looked like:

Signed, sealed, and delivered on Monday! Boat inspection said it was in pristine condition and gave it 9.5 out of 10 on just about everything. Compression came back at nearly full compression in all cylinders.

Tall, you've got me a little worried about the accuset, should I try and buy a new touch pad now? Where should I start looking and they are around 500?

If it is like the Tige Speedset you can only get one when you ship your existing one back.

Congrats! Sounds like you have a new boat!

Might be worth checking with CPROPES2005 it looks like he had some creative way to get perfect pass to work. It sounds like he figures out some way to dupe the throttle position sensor but it also sounded like he thought it wouldn't work for every engine.

                                Quote from thread linked below:

                                cpropes2005

If you have a mechanical throttle linkage then perfectpass will work and is probably the best option. From others who have posted here as we'll as info I got from perfect pass says that all Marine Power engines prior to 06 should have mechanical throttle linkages and should work. In 06 Marine Power switched to throttle by wire where there is a throttle position sensor at sends an electronic signal to the engine and these are the motors that do not work with perfectpass. In throttle by wire versions of perfectpass there is no servo motor to physically adjust the throttle. It is all done with electronics so it just plugs in. What perfectpass told me is that while this approach works with most other throttle by wire motors they just could never get the bugs out of the electronic interface with the marine power engines.

As mentioned above my situation is unique because my boat is an 03 but the engine was replaced around 2010 so I actually have a drive by wire system even though my boat is an 03. I was able to come up with a hybrid system where I used the mechanical version of perfectpass to physically move my throttle position sensor but I don't think that would work for most people.
