    Tige Hull differences?

2000 20ci, Missouri Ozarks. I was up under the bow of my boat last night. Whats under the plywood floor in that location? I need to run some screws down to hold an accessory in place.
What happened in 2002, when Tige changed the hull design. My boat, from the bow looking stern is totally different from 2002 models. My boat has extreme spray rails and is a stepped hull about 1/2 way back and becomes flat bottom from there to the stern. 2002 design looks like a sharp deep vee from the bow looking back turning into flat bottom near the stern. What was the marketing term for my hull design vs 2002 forward? M&M

I am not sure about the direct drive models...But I think what you are describing is the elimination of the spray pockets.

Do a search about spray pockets and there is plenty of discussion...see if that answers your question about the shape of the hull.
    Be excellent to one another.

Im not sure how much room is under the bow walk way. Some spots (center vs the sides) have more than others so you have to be careful screwing thru it. In 2002-2003 they went from being a performance ski style hull to more of a wakeboard style hull with the way the market was going. Thus eliminating the spray pockets and keeping more of a v shape. They also around that time frame switched from wood stringers to composite stringers.

The only thing under the floor up there should be foam.

It was around 2002 when Tige went to woodless boats. The entire market went that way. Malibu and Mastercraft really lead that charge with their marketing. "Wood rots. Wood is bad. We don't use wood in our boats." The market bought into it and the rest is history. Personally, I like the wood. Much better vibration dampening characteristics. The new composites are getting better but, those first ones, yikes.

The hull shape was a result of much of the same. Wakeboarding was HOT and there wasn't a kid around that wanted anything to do with slalom skiing. People who buy boats usually have kids. Kids want to wakeboard. Hence, the crossover influence. Tige had to do something about the the wash on the top of the wakes for wakeboarding. Everybody blamed the spray pockets. No more spray pockets. The deeper entry V allows for a better riding boat in rough water. It's a good thing. Besides, Malibu, MC & Nautique pretty much have the slalom market cornered. It's a waste of resources for any other company to even think about designing and new, dedicated slalom machine.

Nowadays, its wakesurfing. It's fun, doesn't beat the hell out of you and its easy on fuel. Everybody is looking for that surfwake so, that is where all the development lies. So now its the Tige VX, Malibu surf gates and the Nautique SS. It's all a product of the market. Slalom; dead. Wakeboarding; nearly dead. Wakesurfing; all the rage.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

I thought it was 2004 when Tige did away with wood stringers?

Thanks for the info. Good read about spray pockets and reverse chine. My family does all watersports, tube, saucer, knee board, wake board, trick ski, ski, slalom and boat ride. We like our boat, 7 or 8 usually go out at a time. 2 or 3 on a tube at a time. Usually pairs ski on 2 skis. With Taps we dial up a good wake for wake board and jumping wakes on trick skis and regular pair skis. Have a great summer! M&M
