Question about windermere lake in B.C. Canada

    Hey guys,

I am new to the boating world with my 2012 Z3 and am looking at hitting lake Windermere next weekend.

Anyone from here been in that lake ? Anything to look out for etc... ?

    Thanks,

    Travis.

Hey Travis, looks like you have the boat in your possession now, congrats. We were there last year. We launched at the very north point of the lake right beside the provincial park (can't remember the name). As you head south there are less and less homes and people. It can be very busy on the weekends so you will have to move around a bit to find some space. It will likely be a little better this time of year. The lake does have some debris floating around and I thought the water quality would be much better. It is better at the south end. There is a marina with gas if you launch at the north end. There is also a pump midway down on the east side of the lake.

    Have fun

      Thanks for the reply.

I am actually picking up the boat this weekend and I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas.

Anything to watch out for on the lake ? We are staying at a campground on the South East side of the lake. (Lakeshore resort)

I will be taking it easy and not sure how cold the water will be. Do you remember how deep it was ? Any spots to stay away from ?

      Thanks,
      Travis.

I don't remember any areas that were a problem. The very south end of the lake gets shallower but you can see the reeds. Have a great time.

Hey Travis We have boated on that lake for years as we own a cabin near by. The deepest spot in that lake in July is 24 feet. Launching at Pete's marina area is best spot. It is first left at petro Canada after you go over bridge to inveremere. There are other spots as well that are good. This time of year you really just have to watch the depth especially where you launch. Can be shallow which means bent prop on odd big rock. Water will be chilly. Warmest that water gets is 75 degrees in mid summer. We usually don't put boat in water till after that last snow fall we seem to get in May. Hope this helps. You can pm me or continue on here with more questions. Bibbs

You will enjoy the lake, I own a home there and have a 2012 R20. At this time of year the channel near Pete's Marina may be a little shallow as the mountain snow pack is late to melt this year, go slow. As you work your way up the channel stay to the lake stay all the way to port as there used to be a pier in the early 1900's on the starboard side and many of the piles are submerged - you will see the guide buoys so please pay attention. Enjoy the lake, at this time of year it will be quiet on the water but cold. Drop a line and let me know how you do. I'm putting in on June 15 for the season. Cheers.....

Ditto, last year we launched and the signs to port are far and you have to look out for them, luckily as i started making my way there was a guy on shore that pointed out the channel to me.
