Or maybe I'm wrong and you CAN just let the boom out all by itself?

For the record I LOVE that bullhorn idea.
Here is a WS-420SQ thread from Wake World that you were a part. You can see the answer to your question in Tim Whites own words.

    http://www.wakeworld.com/forum/showthread.php?t=797473

Yes it's official. Press release out soon.

The WS-420 SQ is out and shipping now. I planned it pretty well as we just sold out the last of the WS-420 and all back orders were fulfilled with the new SQ version. I was able to completely re design the unit from the ground up and still keep the costs the same. So WS-420 SQ is still $299.99

    Some updates on the features.

-master volume control as a lot of our customers were asking for it as they no longer use a head unit so the unit makes more sense now to be a standalone unit.
-true 3 zone control. (only true 3 zone controller on the market) Tower, Boat and Sub are all independent level controls. You can truly dial it in exactly as you want. With discrete outputs for the best sound quality.
-re designed cosmetics. larger master volume and larger sub control and mic control. we kept the ring/knob on the tower and boat due to space. We view the new unit as most will adjust the tower/boat and sub to how they want them and use the master. With the sub being the second most touched control after the master. Most will not be always tweaking the boat and tower so we are Ok with them being a little smaller.
-New board design 100% ground up. new op amps, new output devices, new line driver (dual gain adjustments inside the chassis on the board for those who really like the tweak)
-New dual zone equalizer. Still has our tried and true dual zone equalizer however I tweaked the output and output range so it is easier to use and not as sensitive.
-lower noise floor with amazing sound quality
-tweaked microphone output so less sensitive of feedback

As for the Bluetooth comments. Adding a BT unit onto the board is not as easy as finding the space. There is a whole host of other issues with noise and range to take into account. (trust me, I know all about it) We are always testing and always building prototypes. I will not release something until it is right.

We will have an inexpensive add on BT module. It is a high end sound quality 12 volt unit and not a battery powered portable desktop type system. It is designed to add on to any head unit or to the WS-420. Right now the best sound quality and range is keeping it a separate piece. More information to follow.

I've not laid my hands on one. You are saying that it IS possible to turn up the sub zone only, leaving the cabin and tower zones at zero output?

Im saying this question has been discussed and answered here on the TO ( http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/show...t-Sounds/page6 ) site as well as on Wake World by anomber of people with knowledge and experience about the products. Threads to which you have posted in at some time. The statements above where posted by the designer and builder of the WS-420SQ. I think the best advice is for you to go demo one for your self. No disrespect, but if you are questioning the words of the man that designed and built it, im not sure what i can do for you.

        Sorry I could not help

Oh ok I thought you were posting from personal knowledge, not press releases. Apologies for the misunderstanding.

          Carry on.

There is no misunderstanding here by any means. I, as well as others that have shared their experience, have personal knowledge and experience with the new SQ version, yet you continue to question what has been posted in a number of threads. So again, my best advice is for you to see for yourself.

Maybe you could try to explain what "true three zone control" means then?

It is my understanding that the three zones being discussed are tower, cabin, and sub. The gripe against the old 420 was that it tied the sub to the cabins so you couldn't fade to the tower and still have your sub. The volume of the sub was tied only to the cabins. But the cabin and tower zones were independently controlled by their own volume knobs.

The new eq has "true 3 zone" control, but if I understand correctly that third zone, the sub, still does not have its own independent volume control. Rather it ties to the other two zones as a summed output. It's still a parasitic / dependent zone that's dependent on the volume of one or the other two zones, I think?

Just trying to understand what "true 3 zone" means, mike. Since you have personal experiences with it and I don't I was hoping you could clear up my misunderstandings, not just read me what it says on the box and then if I ask that's what it really means, throw up your hands and say try it yourself. I'd love to go play with one if there were a dealer closer than 120 miles away. For many of us, the UPS man is our dealer, and we rely on people like you to fill in the lines on how things like this work in the real world.

Thanks for your help and contributions.

sub is a subset of the master volume.

                  NOM NOM NOM

^^ That's me eating my words. It is three zone now!
