    HEY XPJIM!

    hey xp jim,
saw the new pic you have of hoover dam. when did you go and take that pic? we took the river up to the dam about two years ago and there were several really shallow spots. is it pretty shallow now? we love to put in at willow beach and drive through the river. the last thing that i want to do is hit bottom though!

That was end of August in 05. Thats me on the gold Seadoo. We launched by Katherines Landing (Telephone Cove) at about 7 in the morning. It was actually the best day I have ever had on Lake Mojave, no wind at all. I went through the basin doing full throttle, nothing but glass.

I took the Seadoos since the day before my friend demolished his prop in one of the shallow areas and we did not make it to the dam.

Only drawback to the day was I sucked a plastic bag into into the intake and had to jump in the water up by the dam. Water temp was 53 degrees according to guage on Seadoo

I heard Mojave remains pretty much the same water level every year so I would think the same shallow spots are still there

Have you ever launched your tige at Telephone Cove?

I picked up my 24v there last year and I had the whole truck was in the water and still took everyone to help pull the boat on. Good thing I had 4x4 I think if I had put the truck any deeper I would have gotten out with the boat.

I only launch the Seadoos there for that very reason. Also when you go farther out to launch the boats there are many holes which cause multiple problems

oh ok! seadoos, no problem! i was thinkin you got really brave and took your boat up the river. the water is freezing by the dam. that doesnt sound like any fun to have to fix the seadoo in that cold water.

Not that brave in my boat yet. I am always willing to be a passenger in friends boats for the nice trip to the dam.

I've done it in the boat before. We launched from Willow Beach. There were definitely shallow spots. We successfully navigated around them. The water is ultra freezing! Nice ride. Now you guys have got me scared to try it again. Maybe I was lucky?

it can be done, just have to be extremely careful. there are sand bars all over the place. then you have the shadows and the reflection of the mountains. we were going and it just looked like the reflection, but it was the river bottom. we were in my old fourwinns boat luckly nothin was broke. i havent got the balls to try it in my new tige baby!
