In the spirit of the "New Oil" thread, how about some spark plug talk?

Good Choice. Key part is platinum. Depending on the number of hours and how much idling done platinum plugs should last about 4-5 seasons at a minimum.

What's the deal with iridium spark plugs, they came in my boat and I just replaced the plugs with the same ones. Is iridium better or worse than platinum?

One of the main benefits of using iridium in spark plugs is its extremely high melting point - nearly 4500ºF. The Denso Iridium Power spark plug takes full advantage of this fact by using a fine-tipped 0.4 mm diameter electrode in place of the more traditional wide-diameter offerings. A standard electrode of that diameter would more than likely melt after prolonged use, but the Iridium allows for a more precise, controlled spark-to-ignition process.

Thanks for the link, I learned a little about the acdelco iridiums that came in the PCM engine, glad I replaced them with the exact same ones.

I recently pulled a few plugs the other day and I have the AC Delco 41-101 iridiums. They look okay (300hrs) so I might just check the gap (currently about .062)and reinstall them. Looking at the PCM engine manual I see .060 for the 5.7 however the 6.0L requires a .045 gap! I cross references the plug for the 6.0L and it appears to be an AC Delco 41-110 possibly the same sort of iridium plug used for LS7 vette engines. These two plugs look almost the same however the .045 gap reccomended for the 6.0L has me wondering why it's not .060.
Anybody running the 6.0L and know what plug/gap they're using?
