Dog in the Tigé, yay or nay?

Hey Tigé Owners, my wife and I are going to be noob boat owners in a few short weeks and are excited as hell to get the new r20 wet. One big thing we haven’t figured out yet is how our black lab is going to fit into the summer. She is well behaved, everyone loves having her around and she loves being on boats. Just worried about hair cleanup and the possible havoc she could wreak on the upholstery. I thought about some sort of booties to protect the vinyl from her nails, but then thought it might affect her ability to stay buoyant and swim when she goes overboard.

Does anyone bring their dogs on the boat, or is it too much trouble?

we have a black lab and she loves the water. She's great in the boat, never had an issue with her nails but I'm diligent about clipping them a couple days before we are on the boat (typically weekends) to give them time to round off and not be so sharp. For the hair, its easy to vacuum up once the boat is dry. The only issue is that the nails do scratch up the SeaDeck pad on the swim platform, but she's hasn't ripped it, it just shows marks on it. It bothered me at first, but I got over it. Other than that no issues with the vinyl.

I wouldn't let my dog in my boat without booties, that being said I recently bought him some and he absolutely hates them. If he doesn't adjust to them by the time we hit the water, he's just going to have to stay home.

If I had an 80K boat no. But I have a 8K boat, so its ok.

If it makes it an inconvenience one way or another I'd change my mind.

Life is short and your boat is for enjoyment of your family. If it makes you and your family happy to have the dog along, don't even think about not bringing her

We had our boxer on the boat for several seasons. Keep the nails as short as possible and clip/grind frequently (weekly or every two weeks). After clipping, use a nail grinder (like a slow dremmel with a plastic protective hood sold for the purpose of dog nails). We never noticed any problems with the vinyl.

I have a 100lb rhodesian ridgeback. He used to come on the boat alot, but recently he has been left home. The biggest thing is that he is big and heavy and doesn't listen. Plus his short hairs get stuck in the carpet and will never come out.

He does come on every big lake trip though.

We are the same way. Dog is always in the boat. But ours is little so not to much to worry about. I also used to have a Weim and never had any issues with her. Except one time with fresh tar at the ramp and she left a few foot prints on the vinyl, but it cleaned up and we never considered not bringing her because of it. Our dogs have always been a part of the family. 95% of our activities are kid and dog friendly and the boat/lake/cabin is for sure!!

I use a Dremel tool with the sanding drum and jeep the nails short and rounded off smooth. Tool works great and controlled.

Our Golden Retriever was always in our $8000 boat but I banned him last year when we bought the new RZR. He died last fall at the age of seven and I really regret not having him on our boat last year. He would have really liked the Tige!

DEpends on the dogs and behavior. I have had many small ones on with no problem. Even keep a doggie life jacket on board.

Take both of ours all the time with no issues although the little one likes to dump on the swim platform The fish don't seem to mind though
