replace cup holders

Hi all,

Have any of you replaced your cup holders? I had a few of minutes yesterday and tried to pull an existing one out to get measurements. I was able to get it out of the hole just a fraction of an inch, but then they wouldn't budge after that. I tried pushing from the bottom of the cup holder, but was concerned about damaging something. I tried it on several cup holders on the boat. Do any of you know if they are secured somehow underneath? Do you just have to tap it out from the bottom? I have a 2003 24v and they seem brittle. I broke the lip off of one of them trying to get it out. If any of you know the replacement size as well, I am all ears.

They are tapered just a bit to ensure a tight fit. That should be the only thing holding them in. I used a hammer on the bottom side and very gently tapped them up. You might have to work them side to side just a little bit. If its getting to agro and you find yourself beating on it, just cut it out with a dremel.

Not sure on the exact size. I replaced mine many years ago.

If they are plastic and you are going to replace them, then knock one out from the bottom. If stay with plastic, you will probably find a direct-fit replacement. If you upgrade to stainless, you will probably find they come with a larger OD. Just an FYI, even with the direct replacement, you still may need to message the hole a little. Although cup-holders are supposed to be a couple of standard sizes, I have found slight differences in the OD among different manufacturers.

I upgraded from plastic to stainless and the OD was bigger. I bought malibu replacements tho, at 10 bucks a cup holder. I used a cone stone on a grinder, and made the whole bigger in no time. Mine werent fastened in any way, just a snug fit. I got a flat blade under the lip of the cupholder, and they pried right out.

I do remember that being the case with the stainless ones I got. Only on the dash for some reason.

When upgrading my factory white plastic cup holders found factory had built up electrical tape underneath lip. This made for a challenge trying to undo tape for removal, upgraded all ten to s.s. with blue led rings.

I did try to remove the holders by the back bench, but couldn't get a hammer inderneit since limited room between floor and the bottom of the cup holder. Maybe will try to get some leverage with a wooden board and a crow bar and lightly push on the bottom of the holder. Very basic question, but does OD stand for outer dimension?

Are you replacing them all? Going back with stainless so it looks newer or what? Just take a chissel and hammer and bust out the bottom so u can get our hand in there and yank them out of there. That's what I'd do anyways. I went back with the 3" SS cupholders and like I said, had to widen them out, but that wasnt a big deal at all IMO.
