    Cutting under helm

Has anyone cut the helm of a '00 23v? I feel as though there is wood in there and if there is, how will I protect it from moisture? thanks..

I actually just cut mine out last weekend for a sub box. The wood in there was wet and i was having a problem all last season with water being in that box. So what i did was made it where the box was about three inches off the floor so it would give me some room even if water got in the box. I also sprayed my whole box with spry in bed liner to make it water proof and mounted the amps on top of it.

travis, where you cut the boat to fit the box, was that wood? or are you just talking about the box itself?

I've cut through the helm bulkhead on my 2000 22i. It's wood.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

Did you do anything to protect the wood from moisture? Just nervous about problems with the wood breaking down, what about using this on the part that is exposed.. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...requestid=9325

Coat the exposed material with a 2-part epoxy resin.

I would go with a filler/sealer/coating type product as opposed to an adhesive based.
