    Birds

Well if its not one thing its another. Store boats under my lean too on the shop, well friends boat is under there right now mines inside shop, and the freaking birds have decided that the new tower is a great place to sit. Anyone have any quick easy solutions? Im thinking installing a ceiling fan up there since there is about 2ft clearance and that should keep them off tower plus add some drying to the boat in the summer. They wont sit on the boat covers. Going to enclose it one of these years but metal prices along with oversided doors just more than I can spend right now.

this might sound lame\odd.. but for my garden it works... find some pin wheels that spin around that are reflective and mount them hanging down from the ceiling... birds don't like them and should keep them away from that area.... simple and inexpensive fix.

just something simple and cheap like this will work.

I didnt even think of something that simple and I know it doesnt take much to keep them away. Going to pick some up on the way home and give it a try.

hey I wish I could claim it as my own.. but my neighbor lady that is like 87 years old passed that along to me a couple years ago.. solved birds eating my strawberries and tomatoes, so I figured I owe it to someone else... lol. Guess with age comes wisdom.

Anything Mylar works. Pinwheels are a great idea. I had to battle a Northern Flicker this winter. Normally I'd just shoot the little bastard but, that would be a Federal crime. Picked up some giant Mylar ballons the day after Valentine's day for $1 a piece. Scared him away. Fortunately, he was not building a nest or the ballons would have been a Federal crime. Seriously. Be sure to check what kind of birds they are. If they ate protected by tree huggers, make sure you don't have any of them around. If so, you might need to scare them away too. I believe really loud heavy metal works them. I prefer Pantera.

Thats the nice thing where we are at, no tree huggers Pelet gun in the shop works just dont want to hit windshield or anything like that. Plus no way of getting all of them. Mostly lot of little sparrows around which are just a PIA to everyone. Ive fixed any nesting problems under there last year. Just them sitting on tower and sh*tting is the main problem. Going to pick up a few of all the ideas tonight get them stapled up see what happens. Kinda funny that the Bu got it first though I must say, haha. Good thing for a cover.

I've used old CD's hanging with string so the wind makes them move a little. You can also try a web of fishing line just above the tower, but barn swallows learn to navigate the fishing line in a few days.
