    Thanks!

Having worked with the 3/4" inch mat, do you think it possible to double it back on itself (attaching with bolts and washers) to form a loop/passage sufficient to pass a galvanized pipe with threaded ends?

I ask because my swim platform mounts have circular cutouts perfectly sized to pass a pipe--insert pipe through hole, threading mat with double-over passage, and through other mount circular hole, and threading on caps at either end to snug down. But I have no idea if I can wrap the horse mat around a pipe.

I would just drill and bolt it to a pipe. The mats are super easy to cut. Just use a jibsaw.

Hmmm, good idea. Probably use U-shaped bolts to go around the pipe and into the mat. Yeah, I can be dumb so it is a good thing TO is here to sort me out

All goes well tomorrow I will finally get to try the gate out on my boat. I'll try to get some good pics.

            Sweet!

Well didn't get any pics due to wind being terrible, but I slipped the gate on with no ballast and wow it actually works pretty well. Granted I didn't get to ride the wave but it looks promising.

Same here. I tested out the NSS concept yesterday but didn't get to ride it. I was standing up on the drivers side to take the pictures so I dont think the angle of the photos does the wake justice. It was also really choppy. Anyways, I was impressed enough with the NSS setup that that is probably the direction I am going to head. The wake cleaned up nicely with a lot less spray and very little if any affect on low speed steering.

Ballast full, 11 mph and TAPS at 4 I think.

Was the C clamp enough to hold it against the hull or did it push back? Thinking about making a prototype of it too. My gate takes up a lot of space. So a smaller NSS would be a lot better

I didn't have anyone to drive for me so I couldn't get back there and really look while we were moving but the C clamp seems to hold really well based on all of the testing I have done. I put a 2x4 on both the top and bottom with the swim platform sandwiched in between so the clamp only touches the 2x4's which means I can crank it down pretty tight without worrying about messing up the platform.

                      ...as I suspected.

Nice work cp. What are you thinking about for a finished product.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

I am not really sure yet on what I will do for the finished product. It would be nice to have it fully adjustable from the dash but I am not sure if an actuator would fit in there so I may end up with something that slides in and out and is held in place by a pin or some other manual method.

A quick pin would be alright by me. I think Ive got an idea on how to try one on mine. Now i just need time to get out there and mess with it.

I actually got some time last night to start on a prototype. I hope its large enough is the only thing. Basically goes from the top of the spray pockets to under the platform where the hull is stepped sticking out about 1.5-2" (didnt take any pics). Trying to make a retractable prototype with a detent pin for the open and closed positions since this one wont be a simple strap on. Should get a test on it Saturday. I will say if it works as well as CPs did I will be very happy. Its a lot smaller package vs a gate. Plus if it works it will be easy to weld up a real one which will make it fit even closer to the hull so no worry about swimmers hitting it.

Ya, I started messing with cardboard templates last night. The spray pockets offer a unique opportunity to move water without really sticking below the hull. It think its pretty doable.

Well ready for Saturday I think, only one way to find out. My only this is if I made the plate tall enough but with the shape of the hull thats about as tall as I could go without making a steped plate.
