I built this last night to experiment with the NSS concept. I am hoping to be able to get out this weekend and do some testing.

Looking good, is it just on the side or does it go down as well? I was hoping weather would change for this weekend but suppose to hit 35 tonight with chance of snow. Its MAY in Oklahoma we dont typically get this kinda weather. Its messing with my head I tell ya.

Haha, yeah have the same cold front blowing through the Houston area today but I think it is supposed to clear up by the weekend.

It only goes out on the side for now. I wanted to test that first just to see if the simpler solution works. If it does need to go out on the bottom too I will have to figure out a way to deal with the big chine (I think that is the right term) on my hull.

OK so got to thinking on the NSS system vs the Volvo Trip tabs. According to the trim tabs when deployed it creates lift thus leveling the boat out, See lower right part of the pic. So the NSS system has a plate that come out on the bottom and on the side. When watching their video the boat ballast full and level until the plate is deployed. Then the boat shifts to produce a slight list. I think this is from the bottom side of the plate which is just like the Volvo trim tab. The side part of the plate I think works in the same way as the SurfGate does and makes the waves converge in different locations, just in a more compact package. We will have a better answer once cpropes test his prototype of the nss.

I would attach something to it, just to make sure it floats in case it falls off. I think I saw on another thread that the guy strung up a small life vest on it. Or strap the metal part to the transom so you don't lose your hard earned workmanship. I am sure that these things take an enormous amount of pressure.
            Be excellent to one another.

Good point. It is all made of wood so I am pretty sure that would float but it would suck to loose the c clamp. It stays on pretty well but I could definitely see me dropping the clamp trying to put it on in the water.

It is pretty rough right now so I dont know if I would call it real high quality workmanship. If it works though the permanent version will hopefully look a little better.

Any results yet? I am curious to see how good this is going to work!! Would be cool to develop the next big thing!

Nothing on mine yet. Wife and kid got sick over the weekend so no boating. Hopefully be able to get out this week though.

photo (2).jpgbrit.jpgphoto (3).jpgOk went out and surfed. I changed my wave flap rubber out for some heavy duty 3/4" inch thick horse stall mat. The wave was super clean and I think I am happy with the boat. So maybe no more experimentation.

Beautiful wave! Any chance of a pic of the below-platform mounting?

That wake is a pretty compelling argument for bailing out, duffy. Are there any other heavy hitters that you know of that are getting into the gates? Guys running say 3k+? I was really kinda excited to see a super wake on gates.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

Duffy your wave is pretty hard to argue with. What does the wave flap do to the wave vs not having it?

It keeps the wash down. Makes the wave "pretty". I have an FAE and it also gets ride of any spray from it.
