    Convex VX

Haven't paid much attention to the site here in a while so I appoligize for my ignorance righ up front. One simple question I have searched the site for and I can't seem to find the answer.

Has anyone tried to mount the new Convex VX to any older boat? In the little research I have done today (first 65+ degree day in Maine) I am not sure I am realy seeing the advantage other that extending the running surface of the hull and cleaning up the jump from the hull to the swim platform. I apprieciate any input.

They are not selling them for any other boats except new right now. They said the demand is so high they will not be doing that until they can keep up with new sales. Then they will start retrofitting older boats.

As far as I heard they were only retrofitting 2012s but I guess that could have changed.

There was another thread here somewhere and from what I remember Tige is not going to retro-fit earlier than 2012's. I think a few might try, it will require new brackets on the transom and an entire new swim platform with the brackets for the CVX. I'm guessing it will be an expensive and laborous process but it's not impossible, just going to be difficult since I don't believe it's going to be approved by Tige.

Just sell me the CVX. I'm sure I can find a qualified Machine shop to fabricate a connection to fit my existing brackets and swim deck

My understanding from Tige is that they were going to start with 2012's. Then retrofit based on popularity.

Don't hold your breath for anything earlier than 2012. It is an upgrade motivator--they do not want to sell $1000 platforms, they want to sell $70,000+ boats.

I was at the Tige booth at a recent boat show and asked him about installing the CVX on my 2011 RZ2. He told me that they plan in making the retrofits, just trying to keep up with the demands of the new builds. He said they were hoping for later this fall. Going price would be $2500 and they have to extend the swim grid to bring it out to the side of the hull. The new swim grid will help the wake according to the sales rep. Keep your fingers crossed! The sooner the better!
