No worries, our marina's all have premium fuel on the water so that's a big plus in our area. Octane booster depending on the type is relatively pointless because they basically only raise the octane a few points. One that I've found to work well and am a fan of personally is Torco because its not an octane booster but a unleaded concentrate. The 550xs is not a cheap option I think as mentioned its 15k+ for the upgrade. Also mentioned the cooler is mounted in the bow of the Rz2 and Rz4 the only difference is the small portion left open compared to the z3.

This.....the lake I'm usually on has one marina with 93 octane and it is on the complete opposite side of the lake from where we usually do out boating. Not worried about saving a few bucks on filling it up, worried about being able to find the higher octane on a regular basis.

Ordered a bottle of Torco for my MINI Cooper. Thanks for suggestion -- looks like a great product and not too much more expensive than a bottle of octane booster for sale in a service station.

Torco has nice charts for amount to use according to base octane and target octane. If I did have a boat engine requiring high octane and had problems finding such gas, I would keep those charts and a bottle of Torco handy.

If they made an RZ5....it would be time to sell the RZ4 and upgrade.
I'm gonna risk getting banned just because I want to set your *** straight. You are ******* retarded and nobody really likes you. Do you know that? Politics, and you ignorant view of a republic have no place in this thread. You are a liberal elitist that thinks everyone should do as you say, not as you do.
With that said, if you want a bigger boat go buy a G25 mister elite.
          Waiting for another good one!

I guess trailering and storage are not an issue? If they are then the RZ2 is surprisingly big for its size, however, I do like the size of the RZ4. Last spring I got a ride on Dingleberrys RZ4 before I pulled my boat out of storage. The first 2 trips on my RZ2 I felt like it was really small and I needed to upsize. After that I got used to the size again and had a few trips with other families and kids and there was plenty of room.

I really like the size of my RZ2 for trailering and storage. I keep it in my garage and the RZ4 would force one of my vehicles out of the garage, and thats a no-go here in the winter. Also it's just a little easier to maneuver in tight spots like gas stations on the way to the lake, and some lake parking lots I go to are tight, I sometimes have one of the biggest boats on a trailer in the parking lot.

If I had a bigger garage, or lived on a lake I would probably up-size to a Z3 or RZ4, but my RZ2 is just the right size for me. The only real way to see for yourself is to get on the water and test drive all 3 and see which one your wife likes best. I have a feeling she will pick the RZ4 or Z3.

I orginially started using Torco for snowmobiles the new Ski doo 800etec requires premium fuel but have had situations where when filling up only 87 is available and the ECM if it detects detonation will knock timing and put the motor into limp mode until it goes away. The older sleds we could just add Av gas or race fuel but now most of those contain lead which these (snowmobile) motors absolutely do not like. Great product will raise the octane rating a considerable amount with 8oz might be a possibility for boat owners when the only option is 87 octane and 91+ is required.

I trailer, but the extra length doesn't bother me, RZ4 is still shorter and lighter than my travel trailer. My brother owns a storage facility 10 minutes from my house, so storage is not an issue for me either. I have access to units up to 35 feet long. I have been on all 3 and like the handling of the RZ2, but the RZ4 I drove had the 409 motor in it and I liked the extra power. Longer boat will obviously ride a little better when it gets rough, which where I boat I really only need to worry about on holiday weekends.

Make sure you measure the width of the sortage area too, I was traveling somewhere for a month and rented a storage area which was 11' wide by 35' long. Should have been G2G but the door was not that wide and it was impossible to get my boat in the bay. I had to scramble and find a bigger shed that was 14' wide with a 10' wide door.

Anyway, it sounds like you are close to picking the RZ4. Congrats, it's a great boat, you guys will have some great times on it. Make sure you get the extended bimini for it, it's just about requried in TX, I used to live in Del Rio.

Extended surf Bimini is on the option list for sure. Storage units have 12x13 doors, so no worries there. They were built specifically for boat/rv storage.

Didn't think about the marinas not having high octane fuel. Seems like the few marinas out here that have fuel only have high octane. I guess it helps them justify charging $5+ a gallon.

Didn't realize the Z3 cooler went further up. Learn something new on here every day.

Well if marinas have gas on the dock they pay a fairly good fee for enviormental hazards and so forth so that raises their price some what at times too. The Z3 has a cooler mounted up front and then another center cushion behind it to fill the walk way.

With the amount of money you are obviously planning to spend, you should seriously consider flying to the Tige factory and trying one of each model in their test lake. If you wait for a sale on tickets, you could do this for a small fraction of the price of your boat and then you and your wife will know for certain that you picked the model you want. Given your comment about the $15K engine upgrade and "not sure I'd be happy knowing it was an option and not checking that box", I think the relatively low cost of a trip to Abilene is about the best customer satisfaction insurance your family could possibly buy.

Plus, you'd get a tour of the factory and be able to see all those options you're considering right up front and personal. Plus real-life color examples, etc. The list is endless. And we'd love to see photos from your trip!

                          Just an idea....

I'm sure that will happen. We've got property an hour north of Abilene so I'm up there on a regular basis for that and stop in Abilene to visit old family friends. Figure I'll just combine my trip to the factory with one of those trips. Not really worried about color samples. Probably going with just black and white and maybe a touch of graphite.

I wonder if Tim White (wetsounds) is considering selling his Demo RZ2????

                              He's close by.

that boat is sick if he'd sell it with all the stereo in it, I'd definitely have to seriously think about it.
