Hey guys long story short I bought a 1997 Tige 2150wt with 118 hours of craigslist that had been sitting for a year or so but the owner assured me he de-winterized it and it ran great. I thing I got a really good deal but dont care just really wanted a tige. Anyway took it on the lake two weeks ran great but started kinda hard like a typical carbed motor. This last sunday however the boat ran great and through a huge surf wake all day I am very impressed with the TAPS system and the wake considering the year and size of the boat. After about 2 hours we turned the boat off and tried to start it again and it would not start. We had put 14 gallons in the boat and didn't think we had used that much but we had ballast and were surfing so we thought we maybe ran out of gas the gauge was wrong due to the fact that the jets in the carb were not spitting gas while trying to turn the motor over. So we got a gas can from a tow service and tried to crank and and same thing, no gas flowing into the carb. Any advice is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks, Ray. Here come the pictures:

What is the 56K Beware.
By gas pumps do you mean fuel pump, or lift pump? I honestly don't.

Congrats on the new boat and welcome to the site. Nice looking boat and glad you got a great deal on it.
So here are some questions and places to look at. First you were surfing and I presume the boat was listed to one side. It is possible to run out of fuel when leaned over and sometimes it will restart after emptying the ballast out. Could have used all you had in the tank and the can you filled with did not add enough. Go get more gas.
Test to see if you get fuel at the carberator. Is it a carb or Fuel Ing.? If you get fuel there then you know which way to look. Check filters and water separater if you have one.
Check fuses, relays and power at the fuel pump. Then check fuel pressure. But be sure to add enough gas to get into the system for sure. You could prime the carb and see if you can get it to fire off. Hope you get it figured out.Wake Up or Stay On Shore!

Clogged fuel filter.
I'm willing to bet there is a bunch of schmag in the tank if it sat for a year. Surfing one side (starboard) would have put the top of the fuel level at the bottom of the fuel pick up (port side). Schmag floats. The pump sucks up a bunch of schmag, clogs the filter, no fuel flow.
Either that or the pump died. You'll get your chance, smart guy.

I have the same boat as you. Congratulations and welcome to the site! The pictures bring you into elite status on here. Thanks for posting them. I was thinking you paid $56K for it and was like, what?
It could be vapor lock after running for awhile and the engine compartment hot soaks. If that is the part of the problem it should restart after cooling down maybe 30 minutes? It's worth a try. Others have also replaced the anti-siphon valve and most have replaced the fuel pump and regulator. You could put a fuel pressure gauge to see if you are getting pressure. Tody's Ethonal based fuel is harder on our older engines. You can do a search for vapor lock and it should turn up some good info. Or it could just be a problem with the carb or old fuel? Mine is EFI so I'm no help there.Mike Allen, Tigé owner since 1997

Here's what I did to ensure that never happens to me. Well, there's more to it than that but, that was one reason.

Found the filter did not take it off. Have the flush buddy or w/e so i can crank the boat in my driveway. My dad pulled off the plug wires and put a test light to them and they were not making spark. Now we think it may be the coil. We are going to take it to a shop tomorrow. I will keep you guys posted on the situation, and provide more pictures once the boat has speakers and everything. Thanks again, Ray.

Witt,
Engines need 3 things run: Fuel, air and spark. All 3 can be checked. Being its a carburated engine, its all mechanical. With things working normally, you should not actually see gas spitting into the carb with the engine turning over at starter speed. What you need to do is have someone open the throttle all the way while you look down the carb. But NOT while cranking, just pump the gas.
Next would be to check for spark at a plug wire with a spark tester. Do one at a time. cranking it over wires unplugged can burn a coil. That 60Kv will want to go to ground somewhere. If you do nto have spark on a couple of wires, then go to the coil wire at the dist cap.
The fact that it was running fine until you shut it down, sounds like vapor lock. Have you tried to restart since? Also, spoiled fuel and phase separation due to ethanol due to setting up for so long.Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

Makes me laugh just a little, ya i know its not funny at all but its happened to me more than one time last summer. First on a used boat go thru all filters never trust the previous owner unless have some proof it was changed. I always throw in a can of Sea Foam or injector cleaner first part of the year with a full tank of non ethonal gas.
First off if surfing run a full tank. If listing to the port (left side) dont go below 1/2 tank it will suck air. Now your saying carb but is it a carb or Throttle body fuel injection? If you ran it out of fuel surfing empty level the boat back out and see if you can get it to start back up. I can hear my fuel pump when you first turn the key on.
Now where are you located and how hot is it? These boats are VERY prone to vapor lock even on a mild day. They will run perfect, stop to play or pick up rider, take back off and it dies and takes a while to start back up.
When running out of gas due to listing or vapor lock turn the key on and off about 30 times waiting roughly 30sec between the cycles for the pump to prime and shut off. It should start back up long as fuel pump is working and you didnt clog your filter with junk from the tank.
Something Ive done this winter is added a second fuel pump right back by the tank outlet as a lift pump. The current pump has to pull fuel from the tank (~10-15ft hose), thru the filter, then it finally hits the pump, kind of a hard path. So adding a lift pump will keep the pump from vapor locking and also will prime the pump faster in the even you are listed and run the tank low. Ive attached the service bulliten for our boats that addresses the vapor locking. But Clean fuel and filters is always the first step.
