    I need a measurement for a 24ve

I am going to build a sub box for a new 24ve, we don't have the boat yet and I need the dimensions of the opening that goes into the storage compartment in front of the driver. Could someone who has access to a 24ve measure that opening for me and post the dimensions. Thanks in advance.

Another question, our boat was put into the mold last week, how long after that does it take to finish building the boat?

Doc- it takes 10-15 working days for the boat to be completed, barring any unforseen circumstances. I think i can take your measurements tomorrow. You want me to measure under the cockpit console right?

      akdoc,
What colors did you choose for your 24ve.
My 24ve is supposed to be done on April 20, so I must be in line right behind you. My colors are pacific blue main panel, white stern and classic graphics.

        condor,
Thanks for the info, I want a measurement of the opening that goes into the storage in front of the driver from the bow. This is hard to explain, where the bow seat lifts up to get into that storage in front of the driver, I want the dimensions of that opening. Could you also measure the width and depth of that storage area for me. Thanks for the help and sorry if it confusing.

        zany,

We ordered a 24ve that has a pacific blue 2nd main panel, and everything else is platinum. It is going to have the limited graphics. We will post pics as soon as we get it. Our boat was supposed to have a February production slot, but I guess a lot of 24ve's were ordered and it was pushed way back. This is the second time this has happened when we ordered a new Tige, I have to say I am not very impressed by Tige's lateness. WE should already have the boat.

C'mon Doc! I dont know where chesterfield is, but it sounds cold there! So think positively that you are part of a lucky group to get your hands on a 24ve! I know that when i ordered a corvette 4 years ago i had to wait about 3 months, and let me tell you it was hard. But it was also so sweet when it arrived!

Tige is going through an unprecedented growth spurt and that has caused some boats to be pushed back....we are trying very hard to keep up with demand!!!!!!!!!

Your measurements will be here shortly...

            Okay i have the measurements.

The opening is a trapezoid. It measures
            16" Tall
            14.25" width at the bottom
            17" width at the top

The room inside the opening is also a trapezoid and you will find that there is an air vent taking up some space. The measurements that i am giving you are inside the air vent, meaning that if you make a box within these dimensions then you are safe.

            24"deep
15" wide at bow side of the boat
17" wide at stern side of the boat

I have seen a lot of boxes, and my favorite is a sealed bandpass box with the vent leaving through the drivers console bulkhead. A dealer in Seattle (ski Dog) had a sweet bandpass, using 2 six inch speakers, and the thing rocked!!!!

Be patient. Let me know if you need anything else.

              akdoc,

Sorry to here about you long wait for your boat.

I like your color choice, your colors was my first color choice and graphics but with white instead of platinum. I got out voted by the family on the color and graphics, so I just added some speakers to the tower to get over my loss on the color choice.

Are you getting tower? If so what color?

In the big picture I think I will enjoy the tower speakers more than the color.

                Condor,

I am going to attach some drawings of the dimensions. Please let me know if this is correct. This is going to be a box for a 15" sub. It is going to be very tight, but I think I can make it work. The dimensions I am coming up with for the box would be 15.75" tall, 17" wide, and 14" deep. That compartment seemed much bigger when I looked in it a while ago, but I didn't locate the vent. Let me know if I am on the right track.

                    Doc~

I dont think that will fit. Definitely wont sit in the compartment because of the vent, and i dont think it will go thru the opening.

                    BUT DONT FRET!

A solution is build the box from inside the hole backing up to the bulkhead, and using the bulkhead for the speaker mounting....does this make sense?

I also want to suggest waiting for the boat to get here, i know that stinks, but i would hate to make a mistake, or have a miscommunication with you over measurements and have you get upset with me........,

I have to run now, but i have lots of suggestions for you.....

                      Condor,

Thanks for all your help. I will just wait for the boat. I am just trying to get an idea of my options and what the heck to do. I thought about just mounting the sub into the driver's kickpanel, and then building the box behind it in the storage compartment. That sounds like it will pretty much be my only option. Is the driver's kickpanel that penske material? Is it strong enough like MDF to act as the mounting location for a sub that is going to get 1200 watts rms? That was my only concern, and that I get a tight seal when trying to build the box behind it. Here is a pic of the sub:

Yes, the drivers kick panel is the penske material. I cut mine out with a Rotozip.
I'm on a boat man. I got my flippy floppies....

                          Hey Doc.

Yes Rushin is right, and yes it will hold a speaker. That puppy looks heavy, and i would consider reinforcing your mounting job. IT WILL HOLD THOUGH IMO.

Good luck! let us see how it turns out.

                            condor,

I thought it would hold. The sub weighs 27lbs!! I was thinking about using 3/4 inch mdf to reinforce behind the penske material. I will post pics when it is all done.

That 15" RE sx w/ 1200w is going to put your nuts through the back of the drivers seat. My little 10" RE re w/ 250w going to it will make your tongue vibrate in your head and your eyeballs shake, just a touch. I don't see how your going to drive the boat with that thing turned up even half way. Seriously though, you should really look at reinforcing all your dash components. In the last few days I have learned this the hard way. When I turn it up now, I'm starting to notice a few rattles coming from the dash. Maybe you know this, maybe you don't, maybe someone else can benifit from it.

Good call on the RE though. Have you used them before?
You'll get your chance, smart guy.
