A Syn Micro is not much larger then your hand. The Syn-4 and Syn-2 are about the same length, but the Syn-6 is very long. Can you get a rough measurement on those amps? I would expect a Syn-2 to power the Rev-8's, but it sounds like your stereo was done post factory, so no tellin whats in there.

I just checked my paper work and I have a manual for a syn micro, and I had a manual for a syn 2/4. The Rev 8s and Syn 4 were installed at the dealer when I bought it. Its a syn 4 for sure.

Bringing this thread back from the dead... Hopefully closing on an RZR this week and it will come with the 6 in boats and HU only. Had them remove the Syn2, Syn 6, Rev 8's and Free air sub to save some money. My last boat had all Kicker ZXM amps, Krypt 6.5 HLCD's, KS65's in boats and a 12" down firing Alpine Type R in a spec's sealed enclosure. Did it all myself and it sounded great. If anything, I would like maybe a little more bass but feel the down firing likely helped a lot. I like SPL! I put RCA line levelers to control each group and could not have been happier. Clean and loud. Easy to use. Don't know if anyone has done a down firing setup under the dash in an RZR or if rear facing is enough. Two 12's would be nice. Figured I should go a little bigger with this one. I don't need the expensive wetsounds amps unless someone can sell me on it. Cost is not an issue, but there is only so much space. I can add a 3rd battery no problem. I would like to stick to having the sub under the dash. Please give me your thoughts guys.

Choose the subs or sub and its amp will fall in place. 2 XS-12 would be lots of SPL, especially if you could get them in a ported enclosure. Given the bass you are seeking, I would not skimp on the in-boat power.

What are your plans for the tower? Surf/part cove setup, wake-range, both?

If I go ported there may not be enough room for two subs under the dash. Thoughts? Maybe a single XS-XXXv2? For the money, it seems like Wetsounds is very expensive though.

As for the tower I have not thought about it too much yet. I was happy at wake distance and even surfing with the Krypt 6.5's. I would also like to keep the tower to one set of speakers if possible due to having to fold the tower each time for storage.

If this boat deserves Wetsounds I will do it but it seems like you can get a lot more for your money with other brands.

In that case, two 10's in a ported would edge two 12's in a sealed in terms of output and SPL and the 2 sealed 12's would edge a single 12 ported. Focus more on which setup is going to work best, rather then brand. The best sub is the one done right.

Agreed. I will get the boat and see what I'm working with. I've done a ton of sealed boxes and setups for buddies and they sound great with the Type-R's and ZXM's. Easy to do. Ported scares me a little because I listen to both rap and country music. Also port noise and design can get tricky. I agree, if done right ported can be a step up in SPL.

I'm comfortable with the type-R's and ZXM's because they flat out work, sound great (too me) and are cheap. This boat is a step up for me so if there are valid reasons to spend the extra coin, please let me know. Will likely go wetsounds on the tower for sure to match the in-boats but I have no problem powering them with different amps and a different sub.

So I just closed and I'm about to take it home. Plan is the 6 in boats already there, 2 rev 10's and a single 12" ported in custom box. High SPL sub. What amps should I get on order? Also, where can I get the best deal on the Rev 10's? Let me know guys. Summer is short. Very excited here. I have a zxm 700.5 and a zxm 350.2 if these are a good fit. Also have a DVC 4ohm 12" Type-R.

Honestly if I were you I would look at buying a referbished sundown audio amp from http://www.db-r.com/sell/store2/inde...cPath=65_67_69
That's what I did and I saved a tin of money and bought a very reliable amp that pushes true rms ratings
As for the sub I went with a custom built FI sub. I had a kicker L7 and didn't like the overall sound. I also wanted something no one else had in the area (kicker, alpine, Rockford, wet sounds). I contemplated going DD (digital designs) and finally went with FI and am very happy with my complet system. If your a bass head then FI is highly recommended along with DD. Don't be afraid to go outside the box. But you can ask anyone that sundown amps are top quality

                        My amp choices would be......

Rev-10 = Wet Sounds SD-2 or Arc Audio KS600.2 so you have the option to add another pair. For just a single pair, Syn-4, JL HD750/1, Arc KS350.4, or Wet Sounds HT-4 or Arc XDi600.4 are in the lighter side.

                        6 in-boats = SD-6, Syn-4 HT-6, Arc XDi1200.6, JL M600/6

Sub = XS-XXXv2 on an SD-2, or JL HD1200/1 or Arc XDi1100.1 or Kicker KX2400.1

If you do not have a local wet Sounds dealer, Contact Earmark Marine in TX. They are an authorized Wet Sounds internet dealer, as well as JL. Arc does not have internet dealers, so you would have to buy direct from their web if you do not have a local dealer.

Thanks trudelle! Thanks Mike! Only going with a single set on the tower so what did you mean by "in the lighter side". As well, I have to fold my tower each time and like to tune out a lot of the mid bass so perhaps another smaller HLCD could work too? I still want it to sound great at wakeboard distance. Those Rev 10's could get heavy. I obviously need something that mounts cleanly to the Alpha Z so let me know...

As for the XS-XXXv2, aren't there better options for far less money? Where could I get plans to build the ported box? Sorry for all the questions, thanks again.

In the lighter side in terms of power. Easier on the budget, but not pushing the speakers to their potential. Ive done Rev-10's on an HT-4 and was VERY pleased with the results.

A pair of Rev10's is about 44 lbs.

If you will seriously be tuning out the mid-bass, then go with 2 pair of Rev-8 on a Syn-2, SD-2 or JL HD750/1. The advantage of the larger 10" Rev 10, is the mid-bass.

If you want clean mount to the tower, then I would suggest buying through your Tige dealer so you can get the beauty collars.

Better sub, whats the criteria? Better marine sub, probably not. more excursion, sure. less expensive subs, yep. not requiring a large ported enclosure, maybe.

Help me with the ohm ratings I would run the in boats, tower, and sub (assume DVC) to help compare these amps. If possible it would be cleaner to stick with one brand and series. Reading a lot of good about arc audio

thanks, I could care less about the clean mount... I just need the right mount so it actually bolts up. Why 2 pair of rev 8's? One pair should be plenty correct? Remember I was happy with krypt 6.5's off a KS 350.4.

As for the sub, yes I was thinking something cheaper and that requires less ported volume. I got a type-r just sitting here. Is this not enough? It was crazy loud in my last boat. It is rated at 1000rms. Will the XXX be that much of an upgrade?
