    New (to me) Tige Owner

    Hi Everyone,

I thought that I would introduce myself since I have been a member of the forum since last year, and have not made a single post at all! I purchased SPBfan's 2005 24V in May of 2012, and have loved the boat since the first day that Andrew took me out onto the lake. I know that he misses his boat, but I have enjoyed it more than all of my other toys.

I live in St. George, UT., and I am pretty sure that there are a couple of other guys on the forum that live here as well. I have not taken the opportunity to get to know anyone, and I am trying to do something about that now.

Generally we only use the boat at Lake Powell. We have a houseboat there, and usually make three to four trips there per year. It is our favorite place to be, and have been going there for the last 25 years. Every once in a while we will take it out to Quail Creek or Sand Hollow, but Powell just makes everything else pale in comparison.

I am a helicopter mechanic, so I am no stranger to maintenance. My boat had been taken care of very well by Andrew, and it has been mostly trouble free on our trips to Powell. Our last trip in September was an exception, and a very long story, but we still had a great time and love the boat! A couple of months ago I went through the boat and changed the impeller, engine oil and filter, the fuel filter, transmission fluid and v-drive fluid. It was a learning experience to say the least. But it helped me get to know the boat a bit better.

It is great to know that there are so many people out there that care about their boats, and are willing to help other members as well. I am looking forward to getting to know people that frequent this site. I have already learned a ton about my boat from this site, and looking forward to learning even more.

Now if I could just get the weather to warm up a bit, I wouldn't be writing this, I would be at Powell!!

          Heli,

Good to hear from you. I was hoping that you would pop up one of these days. I was worried that your boat might dethrone me as king of stereo in our little part of the world, but I have yet to see you on the local lakes. I will definitely track you down to make sure you are taking good care of the boat if I see you.

Shoot me a PM anytime, and we can hit the lake. I am generally willing to go any month of the year.
          Be excellent to one another.

Tall, my apologies for not popping up sooner on the forum. I'm not sure if my stereo could de-throne you or not, but I know that my ears can't take the loud tunes that they used to. The funny thing is my wife wants to have the music play louder in the boat than me! She yells at me to turn it down when driving, but for some reason she wants to blow her eardrums out on the lake. Go figure.

I would love to hit the lake with you. I haven't had my boat in the water since September, so I really would like to get it back out there. I'll be in touch...

I will try to get some pics posted of the boat. My wife and I were going through pictures just a couple of weeks ago, and for some stupid reason, we have a gazillion pictures of the kids and family at the lake, and none of the boat! Oh-well, I need to get the boat dusted off, and get it on the water, and I'll post up some pics. Thanks for the welcomes!!

Welcome to the site. Good to see that boat in good hands.

Heli-mech eh? Cool job. A good friend of mine just retired from the Guard here at the Heli base (Stead). He wrenches on civilian birds now. Got to tour the shop and climb around a couple Chinooks in the hanger in various states of upgrade/maintenance. Some serious hardware.

                  Post them pics.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

Yep, I love working on helicopters. I generally work on MD500's, Robinson R44-R22, and Bell 47's-(Think MASH helicopter, both with piston engines and turbine engines). I got to go out to the base in Los Alamitos, CA one time, and I was able to climb all over the Blackhawks. That was while I was going to school to get my license, so I was totally geeking out about them at the time. Now it feels more like work when wrenching on them, but I still enjoy it.

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate it. I'm sure I'll be talking more to you guys. I want to change the ballast setup in the boat. Can't stand the hard tanks in the rear lockers, they take up way to much space, and it gets very annoying tripping over the surfboards. BTW, does anyone know how much the hard tanks hold in the 05 24V?

I was looking through some of the threads from Andrew, and I cringe when I see the pictures of the rock jumped up from the bottom of Lake Mead in 2009. That was ugly. I think that I would have cried if I owned the boat at that time.
