    trim for gauges

Hi Tige fans. Searched the site for awhile and couldn't find the answer to this. Hoping some of you could give me a hand with some suggestions. I have a 2003 24ve. The trim around all of the gauges, switches, and key hole look in rough shape. The paint is starting to wear. I talked to Tige and they said the supplier that made the trim for that year is out of business. I was thinking about trying to find some after markets but don't know if any will fit, painting them, but wondering even after a light sanding if the paint will stick, or finding some custom decals to go over them. Thoughts?

I was actually thinking of aquagrafics I believe that is what it is called, I have seen some stuff done to look like carbon fiber, really looked good. Just a thought.

Are you talking about the plastic panels or trim on individual gauges? If you are talking about the panels I had good success with just wrapping them with carbon fiber look wrap material. I got it for like $20 on Amazon and I think it turned out pretty good. I havent done the main panel yet just because I havent gotten around to removing all of the gauges.

Looks great. What you did is exactly what I want done. Do you have a link or anything particular you searched for on Amazon? Does it look as good in person as the photos show? Does it hold and wear well? Wouldn't mind purchasing from same vendor. How did you get all of the toggle switches off to do around the blower switch, etc? Do you know how to get the gauges off? I was wondering the same thing.

This is the stuff I used.

It does look just as good in person. It is really easy stuff to work with. The only trick is that you have to use a heat gun to heat it up just a little bit then it stretches over all of the curves and corners with no creases. Just look for vinyl wrap on you tube and it will bring up a bunch of videos of various things being covered.

To get the toggle switches off you need to take the screws out and remove the panel. The wires are long enough that you can pull it out a few inches from the dash. Then I disconnected the wires a switch, removed it (just have to squeeze the edges to get it out of the hole) and then reconnected it outside of the panel. I did them one by one just so I wouldnt forget where any of the wires went. Once the panel is free you can cover it with the vinyl and then reverse the process. It was a little bit of a PIA but not as bad as it sounds.

Durability/longevity is still tbd. I just did mine a few months ago and they still look great but I have only had the boat out a handful of times. I will probably wait until mid summer or so to decide if it holds up well enough to make it worth doing the main gauge panel. The gauge panel will be the same process as the rocker switches just more of a pain because there are more of them plus more wires. The gauges just have a bar that clamps them to the back of the panel so to remove them all of the wires have to be disconeected and the nuts loosened then the gauge will slide out the front.
