Just back from the StL boat show. Thanks Jean at Tige and Joe at Performance Marine Watersports for the tix! Good show, always fun to see the new lineups.
So we were visiting the Performance booth and a young guy working the booth introduced himself by first name and we started chatting about the VX and the Z3 it was installed on. Nice kid, good conversation. A few minutes in, he said he really enjoyed the five days he got to ride behind the Z3/VX during testing. ... pause ... I asked, what was your name again? Chase he said. Me, ohhh, Chase Hazen, nice to meet you.
I called over my wife Julie, the real surfer in the family. Remember that surf-style rider, boosts to the moon, won 2011 World, I asked? Yes, she said. Turned to my right and said, meet Chase Hazen. Her look was priceless. I turned to kiddo duty (wrangling our 1 year old with the help of a Tige inflatable ball) and Julie asked about boosting tips and other surf-style riding stuff. Chase handled all the questions and seemed to enjoy the conversation. And Julie picked up some great tips.
Neither of us are much into celebrities, sports stars, or the like. But I found Chase Hazen to be genuine and very nice. Certainly reflects well on Tige.
