    Is it just me?

I know the biggest Fad right now is surfing, I am just feeling like wake boarding is getting forgotten. I always run into thread saying how nice their wake is, only to realize they are talking about the wake surf wave.

Not bagging on wake surfing at all but some major pet-peeves:

.New top of the line wake boats with only surfboards in sight
.Freakin bow wakes that push water down the channel versus to shore (my biggest, ruins water for everyone)
    .powerturns (not just wake surfers)
.so called "huge tricks" look pretty tame compared to wake tricks
.threads are full of wake surf questions!!!!!

Anyway, wake surfing is fun, I just wish wake boarding could make a come back.

The reason you are seeing so much wakesurfing is that us "older" folks, who can actually afford to buy new boats, gravitate to it because it's low impact and a lot easier to pick up than wakeboarding. When you wakesurf, you generally don't have to worry about getting hurt when doing your tricks whereas wakeboarding, you can mess yourself up pretty bad on even the small tricks.

X3. Very low impact on the body. We did have a rider take a board to the skull last summer... 4 stitches.

I agree, the low impact part of wakesurfing is the appeal for me. I still like to wakeboard, but these 50 year old knees can't do it both days on the weekend. I don't want to sit around for half of the weekend either. Hence... wakesurfing.

Plus, for all the guests we have come through over the summer, it is easier to get them surfing than boarding. After awhile I get bored driving in loops picking up guests that can't get up on a wakeboard. It's part of being a gracious host. Besides, surfing is more fun than just taking the kids out tubing again.

My son loves to board, which is why we bought the boat. The fact that we can surf as well was the only way I could get the wife approval. So for us, it is the ability to do both that was important. If I were younger, I would want to board more than surf. But then I would be looking for friends with a boat, I could not afford one back when I had the knees and back for it.

Low impact, 42 with two ACL replacements surfing keeps me in the action without the pain.

Kind of off topic but, we have no less than 10 of us who still slalom. It's a great way to still get agro without all the impacts. You also get more of the benefits from tow watersports. I've seen studies (it was a while ago) of people over the age of 80 who still waterski and they had the bone density of teenagers. The were as spry as spring chickens. Banana George Blair rode into his 90s. Strength was never an issue for that guy. He got to be a little crazy there at the end but, he was still a badqss.

I guess my point is that while I love wakesurfing, I still like to do other things as well. Wakeboarding is still a blast but, I just get tired of breaking myself in half just for some fun. Does that make me old?

                  Utterly retarded quote!

But in all honesty Timmy is right. For us it's a little of everything just to have fun on the water with friends, family and of course Ms. Nobody. Were not into how perfect we can make our wake or surf because this is nothing more than an endless battle to distract you from the core reason of having a ski boat........which is just to have a fun day. Nobody talks about tubing either, but this is 50% of what we do when the kids are on board.

We think a better louder sound system trumps all.

Bigger, Better, More is simply a means for manufacturers to get you to want and buy their products. Wetsounds knows this strategy well and as most everyone knows....Wetsounds has us on their hook, line and sinker.

Wakeboarding never left, neither did tubing, loud music, hydrofoiling, or salomon skiing. March to your own drumbeat and let those that need to follow be "followers".

Yes, very old. You seem broken in half in many ways.

Oh! I forget, you can't read this because you ignored nobody.

Just an all around boat. But I love to surf too. Some day you will understand. I like to board too but have been hurt also. Did not stop me but did hurt.

So now you know how water skiers feel. Welcome to the club.
At least your boat wont sink with the wakes that are put out.

I am sure that I can get hurt foiling too, but not as easily as I can wakeboarding. I progressed to the point with wakeboarding that I am going to have to take some hard falls to get better. And at age 44, I have lost the gusto to do that. So now I am onto foiling. Once I get to the point that foiling hurts, I will probably try harder to get better at surfing. I just don't take those falls like I used to even 10 years ago. I am sad that when I had the body and temperament for it, I couldn't afford wakeboarding.

Progressing at anything is funner than staying the same.

I had to chuckle at this... line... trust me.. wakeboarding is alive and well. just these guys are at work all day are 30+ and own the boat, so trust me plenty of boarding is being done! start a thread on it and you will find the ones you seek! I know I will be all over it. I just think these guys all have that surfer mentality.. which is awsesome.. to make and ride the perfect wave...

I laugh at all you guys while I jump over your boat on my hydrofoil! Foiling is the future!

Not to mention you are so much less likely to get hurt than wakeboarding.
